Chiang Rai sensation Native Food Lab pays a visit to 80/20, while Aesop's celebrates its first birthday with a big fat Greek party.
Italian chef Luigi Taglienti of Milan's one-Michelin-starred Lume is currently holding a five-day pop-up at La Tavola. Traditional Italian food will be given innovative twists in three-course set lunches (B1,490), five-course set lunches and dinners (B2,890) and seven-course set dinners (B3,891)—think scrambled oyster, turmeric risotto and black truffle tiramisu. In celebration of World Gin Day on Saturday, Bangkok Marriott Marquis' ABar rooftop will welcome guest bartenders from Hendrick's and Caorunn (Jun 8), who'll be shaking up two menus of special gin cocktails (B395)—including the White Kyuri with genmaicha green tea, white wine, marlic acid and syrup, and the Pear Fizz with hibiscus tonic and grapefruit bitters—and a G&T station featuring 46 different types of gin, four different brands of tonic, and various DIY botanicals.

Aesop's is turning one and they're going all out with a big, fat Greek party! The celebration will feature a drag show, Greek dancing, plenty of games and, of course, plate smashing, along with discounts on food and booze. Advance reservations will grant you a free entry and drinks from 5-7pm, but after 7pm, it'll be B500 a person.

Chef Primo Rivera, the Mexico City-hailing head chef of Charley Brown's, will once again be hosting a one-night pop-up at Smalls this Thursday. Expect recipes from chef Primo's grandmother, like the Berenjena Maria (layers of baked eggplant, goat's cheese and parsley topped with breadcrumbs and red capsicum sauce), as well as Mexican classics such tacos and chocolate-caramel flan for dessert. Throughout June, Ari's Mexican restaurant Casa Azul will be celebrating its fourth anniversary by offering free pastor tacos and a free tequila or mezcal shot to each diner (groups of four or more). Head there on Jun 14 for their official birthday bash, when there'll be entertainment and specials.

If you love baked goods, then don't miss French pastry chef Rodolphe Landemaine's pop-up at Playground Bakery. Until the end of August, you'll find a mouthwatering array of French breads and viennoiserie, from the photogenic striped croissants in beetroot, cacao or lemon meringue flavor (B100), to puffy brioche in orange, chocolate and even vegan options (B80). The French patissier is the chef behind Maison Landemaine, an artisan boulangerie-pâtisserie with 15 shops in France and two in Tokyo. Chef Rodolphe has also created a special menu for 25 Degrees burger bar, featuring beetroot, chocolate, vegan and low-carb brioche buns, as well as epic baguettes like American steak (B390) topped with French fries, spicy mustard and sweet pickled onions, and open sandwiches like the fresh and light tomato feta tartine on sourdough (B330).

Artbox, one of Bangkok’s most popular outdoor markets, has recently announced it will finally have a semi-permanent address located in Sukhumvit Soi 10. After hopping all around Bangkok from EmDistrict and Chatuchak Park to Makkasan Airport Link Station and Queen Sirikit Convention Center, the hipster hot spot will be heading to Chuvit Garden, where it will remain through Nov 30. Kick back in a chilled-out atmosphere whilst browsing trendy clothes and accessories, sipping on craft beers and chowing down tasty street eats. Plus, there's live music, photo ops and art stalls galore.
