Helmed by Austrian mixologist Klaus Leopold, Amuse has concoctions that are both delicious and inspired. Swing by on Tuesday nights, 6-10pm, for their “My Boyfriend Is Out of Town” martini nights. Don’t worry, guys get to enjoy the drinks as well. Expect monthly rotating drinks such as the refreshing spiced apple martini and elderflower martini going for $10++ each. 

Morton’s The Steakhouse

Available Monday-Saturday 5-7pm

This prime steak joint’s MORtini nights are immensely popular so come early. The signature classic martini comes with house blue cheese-stuffed olives in gin or vodka, and the chocolate mortini has melted chocolate swirled into the creamy drink. There’re also the Cosmopolitan, appletini and lycheetini; each will set you back $12.95++. The highlight, however, is the free-flow medium rare filet mignon sandwiches served butler-style which makes this martini deal as good as it gets.

No.5 Emerald Hill Cocktail Bar

Available daily 9pm-1am

The good folks at this iconic, relaxed bar actually ring a bell to announce the start of their daily martini promotion. Get two martinis for $16 (usually $14 each) every night—and there are a lot to choose from. We like their lychee and specialty Choya martinis as well as the fiery Bangkok martini, made with their chilli vodka brew.

Speakeasy

Available Wednesday 5:30pm-midnight

What’s more apropos than drinking martinis at a 1920s Prohibition era-styled bar? Pounding their $5 martinis—dirty, watermelon and grapefruit varieties as well as other specials—all night long like they’re going out of style. This martini night is only for the ladies getting midweek drinks however. Guys get to enjoy the eye candy. 

Adidas King of the Road, October 28

This ambitious regional marathon culminates in an ultimate championship race set in Gardens by the Bay. With an expected turnout of 12,000, this race looks like it’s going to be massive, and scenic too. Definitely something to watch even if you’re not up to participating. Register ($50) on the Adidas King of the Road website by October 7.

Lion Dash Sprint, November 3

Get downright filthy at this extreme mud and obstacle race course that resembles parkour more than running. For the first time in Singapore, participants will be expected to leap, climb and crawl their way over, under and around obstacles to the finish line at Tampines Bike Park. The organizers are very open to runners donning costumes—that should be wild—but make sure you can slap your race bib on or you won’t qualify. Register ($74-79) on the Lion Dash Sprint website by October 26.

Run For Hope, November 18

Devote those long, labored strides to a worthy cause, such as cancer research. For 20 years, this leisure run has helped raised funds for the National Cancer Centre Singapore, and aims to get 10,000 runners this time. Boasting 3.5km and 10km distance categories, it also has a new route at the Padang. Register ($35-80) on their website by October 31.

Brooks Run Happy, November 24

Running and partying can go together with this new 9km race that stretches across Marina Barrage to a makeshift party venue, where Zouk’s resident DJ Ming will be spinning into the night. Register ($50-135) on the Brooks Run Happy page by October 31.

Pioneer Road Run, November 25

For amateurs, this new race at Jurong Central Park promises to ease you into the world of runner’s high. It has 5km and 10km competitive and fun run options, as well as training runs before the day itself. Those with preexisting medical conditions can join the 3km Walk for Health—don’t worry, there’ll be doctors on standby. Register ($15-35) on their website by October 30.

Salomon X-Trail Run, November 25

Step it up with this unique race at Tampines Mountain Bike Park & Trail, which returns for its fifth edition. Runners pound the undulating trails of sand, gravel, grass, soil and even running water to get to the finish line—possibly one of the best ways in the city to commune with nature. Register ($45) on the Salomon X-Trail Run website by November 7.

This potent drink will wake even the dead. Here’s what goes into it: 15 ml each of Hennessy V.S.O.P, Stolichnaya, Gordon’s, Bacardi, Jim Beam, La Paz tequila and Famous Grouse whisky. But that’s not all, there’s also 200ml of Heineken and Guinness. Imbibe and try not to keel over—you’ve been warned.

Chihuly Lounge

The popular joint offers an eight-course weekday afternoon tea set on weekdays and a high tea buffet during the weekends. The latter menu changes every three months and currently includes canapés, like goose liver parfait, as well as classics like raisin chia seed scones and risotto arancini. The dessert spread is extensive and includes blood orange fruit paste, lemon mille-feuille and yogurt parfaits. $58++.

Menu highlights: Cafe Mosaic's weekend high tea menu includes stalwart items such as fresh oysters and sashimi as well as Japanese tempura, roasted beef strip loin, braised duck with sea cucumber, congee, salted egg pork ribs and of course, chocolate fondue to end it all on a sweet note. $48++ with free flow of hot drinks.
