Food reviews remain one of the most-loved (and controversial) parts of BK Magazine. We run two restaurant reviews every issue that are conducted completely anonymously. We pay for our food. We don’t listen to the spiel from the owners or PR. And we write bluntly about what we think. Sometimes they piss people off. For more on BK's review policy, click here.

Over the past month we've dropped by the Sathorn branch of Holey Bakery to weigh up the pros and cons of paying B400 for an avocado sandwich; marveled at Saawaan's delicate reinterpretations of Thai street food; and become acquainted with Breakfast Story's all-day, all-American breakfast menu. Check out the reviews, listed according to star rating, below.

Top Tables 2019: Bangkok's 100 best restaurants

Holey Bakery (Suan Phlu) ★★★★

"[This] is a bourgeois Bangkok bakery where you get what you pay for. And how rare is that?"

Saawaan ★★★★

"Saawaan’s “elevated street food” has caused plenty of buzz since the restaurant’s opening on tree-fringed Suan Phlu in early 2018... rarely do restaurants arrive so fully formed."

Breakfast Story ★★★

"Navigating the dark staircase to Hair of the Dog beer bar’s second floor can be tricky, but you’ll be rewarded with this homey, intimate all-day-dining spot, where American breakfast dreams come true."
