Good view with good cocktails—a match made in heaven.
This bar-slash-restaurant not only has great skyline views but also an adventurous Japanese-Peruvian (aka Nikkei) fusion menu showcasing dishes like their tasty Acevichado Tuna Roll (tuna, shrimp, squid karaage, avocado with acevichado sauce, B590). The signature cocktails adopt either pisco (grape brandy)—sample the Pisco Sour (B350), with lime juice, bitters and foaming egg white—or sake like the refreshing Sake Spritz (Grey Goose, sake, prosecco, pineapple juice, passion fruit purèe, lychee and angostura bitters, B350).

This 39-story rooftop bar specializes in cocktails with local ingredients. Try the Cha Yen (Sangsom, Mekhong, Regency, Thai tea, Bailey’s and milk, B320) or the Tuk Tuk (B320) made with a Thai vodka called Bangyikhan, as well as lemongrass syrup, lime juice and lychee, served with a Thai dessert called khanom luk chup (fruit-shaped mung beans). For food, expect fancified versions of Thai classics like lamb shank in massaman curry (B690) and deep-fried lobster served with rich and creamy panang sauce (B1,400).

Sanya Souvanna Phouma (who gave us Bangkok Bed Supperclub, Maggie Choo’s and Sing Sing) is behind this mid-century Palm Springs lounge bar. Think dusty fire-pits, warm-wood seating modules, views framed by palm trees and a list of on-theme cocktails created by Joseph Boroski. Our favorite is the Californication (B320), which is served so icy-cold that you’ll hardly even taste the Havana Club rum mixed with pandan, passion fruit, pineapple and chili. There’s no kitchen, but Cagette, a trusted purveyor of French comfort food, is just downstairs and you’re welcome to order things like oysters (B45-170/piece), the charcuterie board (B450) or the Fishman seafood board (B830) to the bar.
15 Yen Akat Rd., 083-437-3515. Open Tue-Sun 5pm-2am
This Emquartier rooftop bar is an instagram-worthy, with beach club vibes from sofa beds, hayneedle patio umbrellas and lots of bamboo. The food menu contains bar grub like Australian beef sliders (three miniature beef burgers, B450) or salmon tartare served on a lettuce leaf (B290). For drinks, try the Sailor on Wrath (B340)—a mix of rum, tequila, Pina Con Criollo Puree, Creole aromatic bitters, lime juice and a blow-torched topping of sugar-coated pineapple.
5/F, The EmQuartier, 693, 695 Sukhumvit Rd., 02-258-6515. Open daily 5pm-midnight. BTS Phrom Phong
Situated on the 8th floor of Metro Boutique hotel, this venue with open air space offers beautiful sights with no tall buildings to block the view. Dutch owner Manuel Lucien is a big supporter of the local beer scene, going as far to say he’ll give pretty much any new brewer’s creation a chance. The Twoten Brewing’s New England IPA (B180) gets its super-refreshing taste from liquid yeast, while their West Cost IPA (B180) has an impressive 7.3% ABV. Their Fat Cow Australian beef burger will set you back B300, and comes with bacon, onion jam, pickles and aioli. But the real star is actually their fries (B30 extra).
8/F Metro Pratunam Boutique Hotel, New Petchaburi Soi 35, 095-003-4911. Open daily 4pm-midnight
Mojjo is an uber-chic, modern Latin-style venue with a stunning interior and outside terrace. Retro art-deco Cuban hues, intricate tile-work, supple leather, lustrous woods, smooth marble, and sturdy wrought iron, transport you to heyday Havana. Chink glasses with the El Bandito (B390) cocktail made with Ron Zacapa 23-year-old rum, or The Ruby (B370) with Belvedere vodka. There are also Tapas style bites, like Spanish pork meatballs in spicy tomato sauce served with a crispy garlic baguette (B250).
32/F Compass SkyView Hotel, Sukhumvit Soi 24, 02-011-1111. Open daily 5pm-2am. BTS Phrom Phong

This new opening offers city views with an international selection of vodka ranging from America and Europe to Asia. The cocktails are also good, with some highlights like the Kenyan Dawa (B320) topped with cocoa powder, and the Nigerian Chapman (mint infused vodka, passion fruit, vanilla and lime, B250) which tastes refreshing and goes well with the spinach & cheese quesadilla and Australian beef tenderloin (B690) served in red wine sauce.

Take the small staircase from the 25th floor to be greeted by an open-air space filled with a mix of circular couches and low seating in pastel grey tones. The drink menu is vast, with cocktails like “Sunset” (B300), which is fruity and sweet thanks to mangosteen and rose syrup that also gives it pink and purple tones—the same hues you’ll see during the sundown. The food menu is not as huge, but there are plenty of snacks like gouda cube cheese with mustard and pepper (B300) and more substantial inter-bites like salami and mushroom pizza (B380).
26/F Novotel Bangkok Sukhumvit 20, Sukhumvit Soi 20, 02-009-4999. Open daily 5pm-1am. BTS Asok

Situated on the 32nd floor of Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse, this rooftop bar offers impressive panoramic views, encompassing the Chao Phraya river, the historic Old Town and Bangkok’s glittering high rises. The decor focuses on Thai concept of traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary Shanghainese twist (think carved oriental screens, abstract sculptures and Chinese ceramics) while the cocktails are heavily lean on Chinese influence. The Chinese Highball (B328), laced with mango and bourbon, is punchy and potent. For something a little different, the exotic Shanghai Swings (B288) comes with a unique banana flavor. You might not find heavy dishes here, but they offer dishes like Sichuan-style fried chicken (B288) whose perfectly balanced between sweet, salty, hot and sour.
32/F, Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse, Surawong Rd., 02-088-5666. Open daily 5pm-2am.
