TALKS: BACC Art Talk 2015

This year’s BACC Art Talk 2015 will take place on Aug 1 at 2pm, featuring internationally-recognized, Thai contemporary dance choreographer Pichet Klunchun, who will discuss the importance of art as social welfare. After a long wait between drinks, Bangkok’s trashy party community can go crazy at Trasher Presents Party & Exhibition: Britney's Bitches this Saturday night, Aug 1. Kicking off at 9:30pm, this wild tribute party for the Queen of Pop promises to pack Live RCA with a huge guilty-pleasure playlist, blasting the biggest hits from the class of 1999, namely TLC, Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera. NIGHTLIFE: Epic Festival: White Edition feat. Borgeous

CONCERTS: The Used Live in Bangkok

The American rock band makes an epic debut in Bangkok after the cancellation of Silverlake Music Festival Pattaya back in 2014. There are only 900 tickets, available at Indy Pop Concerts, HOF The Mall Bangkapi, Gram Siam Paragon, Sick Chaisaws MRT Chatuchak, and Musicland, Indra Square.

DANCE: Secret Keeper

B-Floor Contemporary Theatre and the BACC welcomes the audience to a safe space, free from societal judgement in an experimental performance by veteran dance movement psychotherapist Dujdao Vadhanapakorn. GIGS: Goose in Moose

The Thai post-rock band from Smallroom Records, originally formed in 2004. takes over the stage of the Ekkamai bar, with support from W Map. The band has just reunited earlier this year. STAGE: Le Petit Prince - Mixed Media Performance

The performance is a combination of object theater, puppet theater, shadow puppet, installation art and paper cut animation background and a live performance in one of the most famous plays by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. Tickets are B550, and B300 for young children. Shows run every Thu-Fri at 7:30pm and Sat-Sun at 3:30pm. There will also be a puppet workshop running every Sat-Sun at 2pm before the performance.

A highlight from PhotoBangkok2015 opens this Aug 8 at Soy Sauce Factory (24 Charoenkrung Rd.), featuring the iconic work of French-British photographer Cedric Arnold. Portraits exhibition presents an exclusive collection of polaroids from his shoots with the famous, and infamous, across 15 years of his careers, from the likes of Sharon Stone and Willem Dafoe. Sponsored by Pistonhead Lager Thailand, plus a special surprise performance on the night.

DANCE: Ballet Masterpieces with Young Thai Master

For an elegant evening, this Aug 11 sees a wonderful series of pas de deuxs by leading Thai ballerina Ommi Nutnaree Pipit-Suksun and Rudy Candia from the Carolina Ballet performed at the Main Auditorium of the Thailand Cultural Center. Known as the only Thai principal ballerina of the San Francisco Ballet Company, she’ll be performing a program of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, Delibes’ Silvia, Massenet’s Meditation and Bizet’s Carmen at Ballet Masterpieces with Young Thai Master. Music will be performed by the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra, conducted by veteran conductor Martin Andre. Tickets are B500-2,500, available on Thaiticketmajor.

Meanwhile on the other side of town at BITEC Bang Na, Aug 11 also sees a massive electro night of OD “The Prodigy & More,” with the raw production and dirty sounds of the British electronic music pioneers. Local electro support across the three stages by acts like Barbies, Gene Kasidit, Kidnappers, Stylish Nonsense, and DJs like Spydamonkee, Sunju Hargun, Pichy, Tul Apartment Khunpa, Zoo Studio’s Kingkong and Krit Morton. Thanks to local party promoters Retox Sessions and Contango, Bangkok fans will finally get to see Zedd take over Thunder Dome this Aug 11 as a part of his True Colors World Tour at the brand-new Output Festival, alongside a confirmed lineup of DJs Dzeko &Torres, Moti and Hard Rock Sofa.
