NIGHTLIFE: Kolour 7 Year Anniversary!

FAIR: World Gourmet Festival

Anantara Siam hosts dinners prepared by chefs from Michelin-starred restaurants around the world. In total there are 24 dinners this year, cooked by 13 chefs from 12 restaurants. In addition, they’ll host five masterclasses and a Sunday brunch. This year’s lineup includes four two-star chefs, among them Bernard Bach, whose restaurant, Le Puits Saint-Jacques in Toulouse, France, turns out imaginative takes on Southern French ingredients. Dinners start from B7,500, masterclasses cost B1,400.

LIVE MUSIC: BAM Weekender - Cuco, Giraffage & Mild High Club

On the weekend of Sep 6-9, concert organizers Medium Rare Live, Hype Events Bangkok and Conflakes welcome concerts from three rising stars of the indie music world—Taiwan-based American electronic artist Giraffage (Sep 6), L.A. psych-pop band Mild High Club and Mexican lo-fi pop artist Cuco (pictured, Sep 9). Ticket details for the festival will be announced soon, including what the promoters call a "well-priced" combo ticket.

American artist Jeff Ross, who created artwork for Sub Pop, Mudhoney, Nirvana and Afghan Whigs back in the ‘80s, explores painting, drawing, collage, screenprinting and the photographic documentation of textures and found printed matter in this solo exhibition. Opening on Sep 8, 4pm.

As part of the Italian Film Festival’s opening ceremony, Le Muse will perform some music from the Oscar-winning composer Ennio Morricone, known for his dramatic soundtracks to everything from The Good, The Bad and the Ugly to Cinema Paradiso.

STAGE: The International Music and Dance Festival

Back for the 20th year, the festival promises world-class opera, ballet, orchestral concerts and performance pieces. Headlining the event are international superstars the San Carlo Opera from Naples in Italy led by the acclaimed orchestral conductor Zubin Mehta from India, while other show highlights include a Michael Jackson tribute and Spain's Born to Dance. So Sofitel's celebration of high-wire gastronomy returns with seven dinners and seven further culinary activities, including cooking classes, a Sunday brunch and a Diageo-helmed mixologist night. Between them, the 21 guest chefs and culinary whizzes count 14 Michelin stars, among them Guy Lassausaie (pictured), chef-owner of the century-old, two-starred Restaurant Guy Lassausaie in Lyon, France, and Paul Liebrandt, chef-owner of the two-starred Corton in New York. COMEDY: Stephen Carlin

The Scottish comedian is the latest act to visit Bangkok thanks to Singapore-based live comedy outfit Magic Rock (past acts: Doug Stanhope, Jimmy Carr, Bill Bailey). A long-time standout from the Edinburgh Fringe (the UK’s Glastonbury for comedians), Carlin’s acerbic, dour and precisely crafted act has won praise from the likes of standup legend Stewart Lee, who personally selected Carlin for an appearance on his BBC show, and has described the comic as “really brilliant.”
