Amid the wave of interchangeable-lens cameras, Canon seems to be one of the few big players sticking to their expertise in making good compacts. Their latest creation is the G1X, a bigger brother of the G family. Though coming in a larger and heavier body than the popular G12, the G1X boasts a giant 14MP 1.5-inch CMOS sensor—which is a bit smaller than Canon’s own APS-C, a bit larger than the current Four Thirds and six times larger than previous G-series cameras. As for other features, the G1X comes with a 28-122mm equivalent F2.8-5.8 lens, optical viewfinder, RAW shooting capability and ISO up to 12,800. Price not yet available.
