► M/F & 1/F: Womenswear
Lael
This young designer, who can also be found at Siam Center’s Mob.F, does simple apparel with a twist: wrapped/draped tops in pastel hues and printed silky skirts and dresses for girls, and warm, light colored shirts for guys. M/F, www.facebook.com/LAELSHOP
Tip Dejaturat
UK-returned designer Tip Dejaturat borrows a feminine vintage style for her genuine leather bags and clothing line, utilizing colors like light brown, pastels, bleached pastels and techniques like drapes, laces and twists. M/F, 089-173-8708, www.facebook.com/tipdejaturat
Riotino
Not into minimal fashion? Riotino dazzles with their busy garments, imported mostly from Hong Kong. That means ripped sweaters, faux furs, Gothic jackets, sexy leggings, printed scarves, bondage dresses, skinny jeans and elaborate jewelry. 1/F, 02-108-0810
Philomel Vintage
The space features Japanese decor with an unadorned wall, a small display box and a large wood pane displaying a few fashion items. The style of the products is similarly pared down: warm palettes mixed with lace, cotton and linen. 1/F, 089-449-6112
Matudio Bangkok
It may look like a Japanese shrine, but the shop actually sells manga-style printed t-shirts. Touch them, and you’ll feel that they are embroidered by hand. That explains why a single t-shirt starts from B640. 1/F, www.facebook.com/matudio.bangkok
► 2/F: Menswear
A Pick Me Up
This t-shirt shop is obsessed with ducks. Vivid colored t-shirts are silk-screened with ducks in every color. One t-shirt is B200 and there are new prints almost every week. www.facebook.com/duckytshirt
Human Fight
A perfect gift for your sporty farang friends, these Human Fight t-shirts are printed with several styles of Thai boxing, from drawings sketched by the owner himself, while his wife acts as the very friendly salesperson. T-shirts are B200-350. 089-491-2946
I don’t have a name
The popular Facebook store finally has its own actual space in a mall, selling printed black or white t-shirts with simple yet funny prints, featuring handwritten graphics and humorous typos. A single t-shirt is B490. 083-424-6555, 086-320-5279, www.facebook.com/idhn.tshop
Kan’ser
The hip menswear brand, owned by the graphic designer behind Bed Supperclub’s Bed Sheets Magazine, opens its fourth outlet, launching its newest collection of shirts, tank tops, t-shirts and shorts in polka dot prints, navy stripes and bold vivid colors. 083-700-0311, www.facebook.com/kanser.page
Stray Wolf Bank
This all-blue shop is for men who like to dress in a minimal Korean style. That means printed or striped t-shirts (B250-350), earth-tone shirts (B450-690), canvas bags and colorful scarves (B120), which are actually the shop’s specialty. 084-162-8358
Sunday No. 1
The men’s shirts at Sunday No. 1 are nice, though not particularly outstanding (plaid, stripe, warm colors), but we really like the series of Jil Sander-esque two-tone totes (B890) that are perfect for a casual day. 081-376-4877, 081-616-0437
UndeRLine @ MOOLAR
MOOLAR sells imported fashion items from around the world (including Topman jeans) but the real finds are the canvas bags from Thai brand UndeRLine, which come in a variety of styles, ranging from totes and messenger bags to multipurpose and overnight bags. Our favorite is the two-way bag (B1,300, see picture). 081-646-4217, www.facebook.com/UndeRLineBags
Yamato by Yu-Raku-Cha
Yamato sells jeans you won’t see elsewhere: indigo-blue jeans embroidered with silky threads in Japanese styles. Denim shorts are from B980 and jeans are from B1,580. To get the total look you might also consider grabbing a pair of their Japanese wooden sandals (B890), too. 02-108-0576
► 3/F: Accessories
Malimarymalai
Another Terminal 21 exclusive and if you’re dressing Victoria Beckham-style, this is your place. Malimarymalai stocks women’s bags made from fine genuine leather. But instead of girly, precious details, this store focuses on simple accents to show off the polished texture of handcrafted leather. Of course, they’re not cheap. Prices start at B3,650 for a clutch. [email protected]
Labrador
Labrador is not a new leather accessories brand, but this happens to be the brand’s first store retailing the complete range of products, from a series of leather wallets and briefcases to the newest collection, featuring recycled leather. www.labradorfactory.net
