There’s a vegan heaven that serves up really hearty dishes

Veganerie made its name as a vegan dessert cafe, but it now runs a stylish diner dubbed Veganerie Concept, which serves savory dishes that go well beyond salads. Top offerings include zucchini pasta (B250) with tomato sauce and vegan sausage, and the pulled “pork” burger (B290) made with mushrooms instead. Veganerie’s signature desserts are all here, too, like the cashew nut paste-based cheese pies (B140) and waffles (B165) as well as flavorful smoothies (B140-165).

You can easily get your dose of almond milk and granola

MerryMild is a delivery service that focuses on homemade health products including almond milk, white kidney bean milk, low sugar juices, natural butter paste granola and other flourless healthy snacks. You can get a set of three bottles of almond milk sent straight to your door for only B90, whether it is the original, dark cocoa or matcha green tea flavors. Otherwise, look out for 137 Degrees, a brand of nut milks available at Tops and MaxValu.

Porridge is the king of breakfasts

A graduate of the Institute of Integrative Nutrition runs Vara’s, a brand new delivery service dedicated to fresh porridge and muesli bowls made from natural ingredients and packaged in eco-friendly boxes. Take the chance to get a longer lie-in every morning with delicious veggie-friendly porridge flavor combos like coconut matcha or banana coconut, starting from B180. On top of carrot-orange muesli, you can also order gluten-free “paleo” granola.

You can get vegetarian-friendly healthy Thai dishes delivered straight to your door

While lunch box delivery services are nothing new, Foxbox is one of the few that offers healthy Asian dishes rather than Western-style food. The menu is at once nutritious and affordable with plenty of vegetarian options, so take your pick from the likes of stir-fried basil mushroom with brown rice (B85), vegetarian pad Thai (B130), and many more. Better yet, the boxes come labeled with levels of calories, carbs, fats and proteins for the dish to guarantee you don’t surpass the day’s calorie count.

There’s a brand new vegetarian cafe in Ari to kick-start your mornings

The team behind chic bike cafe Tokyo Bike has unveiled a new health cafe that’s all about delicious vegetarian food. Set in a high-ceilinged shop-house, Lilou Cafe is a cozy, 10-seat venue decorated with farmer’s market-style baskets of fresh fruits and vegetables, placed alongside Japanese-style decor touches. The menu is a seasonally rotating list of brunch dishes including the highlight Avocado Brunch Set (B200), which stars organic avocado alongside mushroom sauce, scrambled eggs, grilled mushrooms, and salad with peanut butter sauce and avocado mayo. The space also holds frequent chef’s tables and cooking workshops for those who want to take their love of vegetarian food to the next level.

Health Tip

A vegan diet is often associated with heart health, and prevention of lifestyle-related chronic health conditions such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, and even some types of cancer. Diets rich in vegetables, fruits and plant-based proteins often contain higher percentages of nutrients such as iron, fiber, magnesium, vitamins C and E, as well as certain phytochemicals. So, even if you’re not vegan all year-round, it can be in your best interest to incorporate more plant-based nutrition into your daily diet.’
