But, as expected, no one championing local cuisine.

There weren't many surprises for Singapore at last night's San Pellegrino Asia's 50 Best Restaurants announcement.

Well, except for this rather pleasant one: Burnt Ends was a new entry, coming in 30th spot. The meat-centric Keong Saik grill led by Chef David Pynt already has a loyal following but no doubt those lines will get even longer after it made the cut (haha, get it?) as a veritable dining destination in Asia.

The rest of the Singapore winners remain unchanged, though many took a slight tumble in the rankings. Tippling Club took the biggest, down 13 spots to #36. The other eight were Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck ( down seven at #47), Osteria Mozza (#45), Shinji by Kanesaka (up three to #32), Iggy's (down six to #18) Les Amis (up one to #13), Jaan (up six to #11), Waku Ghin (down two to #9) and Singapore's best restaurant, according to San Pellegrino anyway, Restaurant Andre, up one to 5th place.

We're happy the Singapore tally has gone from nine to 10, but sad that we're still a few years away from having a restaurant serving Singapore food on that list, if local expert opinions are anything to go by.

Anyway, in case you're planning a trip to Bangkok soon, modern Indian restaurant Gaggan came out tops and snagged first place in this year's list.

And though we don't have a Nahm here, its amazing chef David Thompson has just opened a sexy Thai street food-inspired restaurant at MBS, Long Chim.
