Tiny, adorable, and fingerlicking good.

The recently opened cafe, Jsu a la Maison (read as Jay Su, like the famous Michelin resto Jay Fai) is serving moderately sweet donuts and drinks at Udom Suk’s latest community space.

Set up in Neighborhood Drama, the new cafe is in an up-and-coming lifestyle hang out spot that just so happens to come with garage sale-esque furniture and vintage collectibles.

During Covid Sunicha “Fai” Xuto, started uploading cooking videos on social media. Her followers nicknamed that segment “Jsu Kitchen” and it stuck. Jay being a colloquial term for an older sister.

At first, Fai experimented with a lot of desserts. Being a fan of choux cream and eclairs, she wanted to create her own version. But those treats require an oven, so she pivoted toward donut holes which share a similar DNA but can be fried.

The Fat Kid Set (B139) serves six mini donuts with one plain and the rest filled with Biscoff, chocolate, vanilla, earl gray, and lemon curd.

The dough is light and fluffy and the fillings aren’t too sweet. It’s filled with just the right ratio so you won’t be overwhelmed with the creaminess when you take a bite. There’s also a sour jelly on top to further cut the flavors.

As Fai mentions, the desserts and drinks here are for those who want to have their cake and eat it too. It might not be for the health conscious crowd, but you can be sure that there won’t be anything sickeningly sweet.

For the coffee lovers, we recommend J’su Coffee (B120) which throws bits of Biscoff cookies into the mix. The result is a well balanced caramelized cup of joe with two donut toppings.

If you’re trying to reduce your caffeine intake, opt for J’su Premium Cocoa (B120). The base is made up of melted chocolate chips mixed in with milk. This will get the bottom to curdle up into tiny flakes so you get an interesting texture while taking a sip.

On the more refreshing side, J’Su Lemonade (B100) lends a good dose of sweet and sour. The added sweet basil also gives off an aromatic fresh take to the drink.

You’ll notice that some of the clearer concoctions like this one contain ice cubes with edible flowers crystallized inside, camera ready for that extra aesthetically pleasing shot to be posted on social media.

The shopfront itself is shaped like a storybook henhouse using primary colors, giving off a Nordic, fairytale feel.

The outdoor zone is shared with the other soon to be opened stores, and it is purposefully decorated like a rundown skatepark with knick knacks like a rusted bicycle suspended mid air—straight out of the ET poster.

Jsu explains the interior—whether it be a vintage TV, funky troll dolls, or artsy magazines—is made up of mementos from her childhood and personal collection. If something catches your fancy, you can purchase some of the price-tagged items.

Walk through the back end of the shop and hop on over to the Neighborhood Drama furniture store or hit up the newly opened No Verse Bar, a casual and cozy speakeasy with a signature menu inspired by music. In the same building, BK has already covered the hidden cafe Super Nice Land which is set up on the second floor.
