Chef Akira Back will be returning to Bangkok this week to mark five years of Akira Back
in Bangkok on March 14 and 15 to compose a special menu to celebrate the occasion.
Guests will have a chance to meet the chef in person and learn about his vaunted life and career as a Michelin-starred chef and restaurateur—and his time as a pro snowboarder, no doubt.
The special sharing set menu will include appetizers like Hokkaido scallop in the shell and tempura lobster with jalapeno and amazu ponzu. Afterward, look for two mains: the Glacier 51, which includes toothfish with gochujang miso and frisee, Saga Beef, which features an A5 strip loin with black garlic and truffle mashed potato.
Akira Back has built an empire of 22 locations around the world—including Akira Back and A Bar
in Bangkok. Born in Seoul and raised in Colorado, spans Paris, Dubai, Toronto, Singapore, Dallas, Hanoi, and more. Chef Akira Back has cooked for presidents, royalty, and the Dalai Lama and has appeared on “Iron Chef America,” NBC’s “The Today Show,” and “United Tastes of America.”
The event is priced at B3,500 per person, and both nights will be serving the same set menu.
Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park, Akira Back, 199 Sukhumvit Soi 22, 02-059-5909. Open daily 5:30-11pm.
