This picture-perfect new haven in Ari runs under the concept of “nothing but avocado" and busts out simple dishes with added (read: avocado) surprises, like their pad kaprao with a side of deep-fried avocado encrusted in golden batter or the avocado-bacon pancake topped with a big, fluffy, cloud-like egg. Taan bills itself as “hyper-local” in reference to the seasonal ingredients it sources from independent farmers around the country. Executive chef Monthep Kamolsilp, 29, puts firm, juicy brackish prawns from Ranong to use in his twist on choo chee curry with basil-wrapped grilled eggplant. His pad kaprao, made with organic pork from Nan, as well as long beans, torch-ginger and southern budu fish sauce, is a light and delicious, if potentially sacreligious, take on a classic. Try a nine-course dinner set for B1,800/person. Cocktails play to the same Thai-Thai script, and the 25th-floor views are spectacular.
