The documentary on Edward Snowden and the NSA surveillance scandal is followed by a Q&A with Snowden's confidant and surveillance expert Jacob Applebaum.
This afternoon, the Foreign Correspondents Club of Thailand (FCCT) hosts a screening of Citizenfour, the Oscar-winning documentary on NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, followed by a Q&A session by Snowden’s collaborator on the NSA Leaks, Jacob Applebaum.
The documentary details American journalist and film director Laura Poitras's meetings with Snowden in Hong Kong, after she received an email from him detailing illegal wiretapping activities by US and other intelligence agencies. At the 2015 Oscars, Citizenfour took the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.
Jacob Applebaum is a core member of project Tor, the free, anonymity-granting search engine. He was among several people with whom Snowden entrusted the NSA Leak documents in 2013.
