The Bling Ring: Best known for 2003’s melancholic masterpiece Lost in Translation, stylish filmmaker Sofia Coppola is back with a new film, the much-hyped The Bling Ring. The good news is it’s actually coming to Bangkok cinemas, from Sep 5, after her previous offering, Somewhere (2010), missed out on a local release. Inspired by real events, the film follows a group of fame-obsessed teenagers who rob celebrities’ homes to fulfill their materialistic obsessions. The film stars Emma Watson, Leslie Mann, Taissa Farmiga, Israel Broussard, Katie Chang and Claire Pfister.
Blue is the Warmest Color: More good news for art-house lovers as Sahamongkol International just announced they’ll be bringing the Palme d’Or winner at the 66th Cannes Film Festival, Blue is the Warmest Color, to House RCA on Dec 19. This French film delves into the idea of individuality through its depiction of a naïve 15-year-old girl’s changing perspective on sexuality after meeting and forming a relationship with a blue-haired girl. It stars the hot Lea Seydoux (the sweet vinyl seller in Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris).
