These 10 cafes and restaurants prove Bangkok’s got good waffles
Buttery, fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth goodness.
Neo-Victorian style gets worked to good effect in this cozy coffee bar, where wonderfully poured piccolo lattes, cappuccinos and espressos, are served alongside tasty lunch offerings, like Parma ham linguine with black truffle white cream sauce (B320), and even tastier desserts. Try the red velvet waffle (B190) with cream cheese glaze and fresh berries, or the waffle with ice cream (B250), where you can choose between strawberry yogurt, Ferrero chocolate, vanilla and yakult pepo (fermented milk with jelly).

Having started off as a dessert shop specializing in chocolate, Chu has long since established itself as an all-day dining spot. The Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef/owner whips up breakfast favorites like eggs Benedict (B250-290) and overnight yeast-raised waffles, from which it’s hard to choose between the pulled pork waffle (smoked pulled pork, poached egg, Jack Daniel’s BBQ sauce and Sriracha spicy mayo, B250), the chicken waffle (buttermilk fried chicken, honey Sriracha and cider slaw, B300), and the berries and cream waffle (B250) served with vanilla gelato and maple butter. Can we take all three?

An offshoot of New York’s number one breakfast spot, Clinton Street brings a taste of the Big Apple to the heart of Bangkok. Their all-day breakfast menu showcases American classics like fluffy blueberry pancakes with maple butter (B280/2 pieces and B340/3 pieces) and free-range chicken with fluffy buttermilk waffles (B340), served with honey Tabasco sauce. You can make it a two-course waffle feast with the strawberry shortcake waffles (B380)—made from vanilla buttermilk and served with fresh strawberries, cake crumbs, strawberry sauce and aromatic maple syrup.

Tucked inside the historic Samranrat neighborhood, this rustic spot fits right in with its concrete walls, potato sack displays, wooden ladders and bicycle parking out front—making it the perfect spot for cyclists to refuel. Here, they offer over eight different flavors of waffles (B40/piece)—we recommend the “Caramond,” which combines crunchy almonds with indulgent homemade caramel sauce. You can also choose your own toppings (B20/topping) from various sauces, custard, whipped cream, nuts, yam and fresh fruit.

This American-diner franchise is renowned for its pancakes and waffles, both of which hold true to the brand's original recipe. Step inside and take a bite of the buttery mango crumble waffle (B195), served with cream cheese, crumble, fresh mango and berries, or try the bananas and cream waffle (B195), featuring vanilla cream, fresh bananas and sugared pecans. Other favorites include the banana strawberry Nutella crepes (B195) and the chunky chocolate pancakes (B240) topped with creamy chocolate ice cream.

A follow up to the Sathorn favorite, this handsome café will have you munching on your breakfast while lusting over retro-style bikes thanks to a partnership with BMW. Feast on carb-heavy creations like the Gangnam-style waffle (B270)—a kimchi waffle topped with a crunchy chicken thigh and a poached egg—or the perfectly sweet and savory French toast topped with bacon, grilled banana and syrup (B250). For drinks, go for the green tea latte (B130) with Malou matcha and salted caramel, or the espresso martini (B240), served in a low-key coffee mug so no one can tell you’re drinking at breakfast.

Amid cool concrete monochromes and subway tiles, Roast turns out dishes that keep the comfort factor while also delivering on flavor, size and produce—crisp, rustic fries; edgy brunch dishes; and, of course, aromatic waffles. Opt for the fresh strawberry waffles (B260) served with cream and homemade vanilla ice cream. The American pancakes (B220) are just as good, served with crispy fried bacon, or for something a little sweeter, go for the fluffy banana pancakes (B320) with butterscotch sauce and homemade peanut butter ice cream.

There’s much to admire about Rocket, the uber-chic brunch spot situated in the heart of this up-and-coming Sathorn neighborhood. It looks like the kitchen we all dream of having, thanks to an abundance of light, warm wood tones and little details like fruit bowls, chrome coffee machines, and a white marble counter, from where staff prepare all-day brunch dishes. Our favorites include the savory salmon and dill Nordic potato waffle (B240) with garlic, chives, and sour cream, and the quail egg and truffle waffle (B240), served with truffle mayo, crispy fried bacon and watercress.

The electric blue-and-pink glow of Siam Paragon’s Townhouse will be familiar to anyone who’s dined on the original Hong Kong branch’s fusion egg waffles and inventive Asian flavor combos. The menu is also no different, showcasing their classic egg waffle cones (B89/B149) filled with your choice of strawberries, mango or chocolate. For a double hit of mango, go for the sweet mango waffles with mango ice cream and fresh mango (B220), or for the perfect accompaniment to coffee, order the waffle mania (B250), topped with ice cream and Oreos.

This global chain has proved itself to be a favorite among Thais for its crispy, non-greasy fried chicken. It sure lives up to the hype: a crunchy batter on the outside that holds up marvelously against the restrained slathering of spicy, not-too-sweet sauce, and moist, tender and flavorful meat on the inside. Fortunately, we’re happy to report that their new menu—chicken & waffles (B150)—is just as good, serving up juicy fillets on homemade buttermilk waffles, topped with maple syrup and crispy garlic. Another favorite is the cheese tteokbokki (B195)—rice cakes and pork sausage served in a sweet sauce and topped off with mozzarella.
