Apart from respectable lineup of live bands, blaring everything from rock, indy and dance to reggae, ska and jazz, the bar is one of Pinklao’s hidden gems thanks to its trendy industrial-style decor—which make for great group selfies, if you are into that sort of thing. The wide selection of craft beers, wines and cocktails deserves a mention, too. The food is also as good as some of the city’s better bistros, but here it’s coupled with better music and a more upbeat vibe.

Baan Puen

This rooftop bar feels just like going to a friend’s house from low-key industrial look mixed with some unusual touches like big teddy bears and a bunk bed. What makes it stand out? A nice rotation of live bands every night and a solid menu of creative Thai food. Just like the decor, the menu includes playful, some would say strange, touches like the Kao Maew (which translates as “cat food” in English, B130), a spicy mackerel salad mixed with rice served in a stainless plate that’s very reminiscent of Thai highschool meals. To wash that all down, try sweet and easy-to-drink Chiang Mai cocktail (B390) with vodka, triple sec, orange juice and cranberry juice.

The Beer Bridge

With its requisite Brooklyn bistro bare bricks and dangling light bulb, this restaurant boasts an outstanding beer list (pushing 150 labels, including the likes of Deschutes Chainbreaker and Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar on tap, B300/500ml) to pair with tapas and fusion comfort food. Opt for the hefty-portion burgers to share, or stick to original Thai pub grub like the laab moo tod (B90), which is spicy deep-fried minced pork with mint.

Black Cabin Bar

Tucked inside meat-centric restaurant Wild & Co., Black Cabin Bar is a hidden booze institution with a bit of edge. The bar looks to rekindle the live music spirit of its predecessor, all amid a moodily lit cabin vibe of dark red lighting and faux animals. Here, the partner-owners from Loy Shy music bar in Ratchathewi promise live bands covering genres as diverse as jazz, soul, blues and electro. There’s also a decent booze selection, including a selection of single malts, Thai craft beers like Chalawan, Mahanankhon and Lumzing (all B220) as well as refreshing signature cocktails.

Brasserie Cordonnier

It’s all about French classics here, as the former J’Aime sous-chef Clement Hernandez doesn’t do food trends or fads—only reliable, comforting dishes like escargot (B390), onion soup served with sodden bread and loads of flavorful emmental cheese (B460) and beef bourguignon (hefty, fall-apart chunks of meat glazed in velvety gravy and tasty croutons, B520). On the third floor of the restaurant, there is an exciting new bar coming soon.

Cantina Wine Bar

Reservation is highly recommended since this pizzeria is always packed even on weeknights. Ask for a table on the second floor where the vibe is cozier, then order comfort dishes like the parma ham pizza (B490) made with fresh produce like a tantalizingly creamy burrata on top. The strongest draws are the wine list, with Sommelier and Co-Owner Mathew Milotich in charge of the  two-story wine rack with over 60 labels, starts from B250/glass and B950/bottle.

If you and your crews are up for an adventure, let’s start with the phone booth where you dial the right code to get into this Cuban bar with thematic details in the form of colorful cement tiles, a faded mural and a dangling clothes wire. The overall vibe is more party-minded, with more than 40 varieties of rum available. The cocktail list split into classic and experimental, like the Between Two Sheets (B300) comes in two mismatched glasses that requires daintily sip at both for the full effect.

Let the Boy Die

This is the perfect place for your beer-geek group of friends, from the long and Tetrissed tables, exposed bricks and concrete wall presenting quirky vibe, and the twelve rotating taps with all genres of craft beers represented. We recommend the Golden Coins Happy Stout (B180) which uses chestnuts for a smooth and smoky flavor, or chose the Hop Hog Handsome Hog (B220) if you crave for some tropical IPAs. For bar bites, try the smoked pork neck serves with nam jim jaew (B200).

Located on the end of Charoenkrung road, this adult playground is perfect for after-work urbanities not only because of serving variety of drinks, but also stocks plenty of games and activities referencing the sweet teenage life. The kitchen is heavy with seafood creations like the squid ink fettuccine with crab roe, garlic and chili olive oil (B250) which makes a good main dish before ordering craft beers like Vedett Extra Ordinary IPA (B320/pint) and Little Creatures (B320/pint) from tap.

This is a go-to spot if you're into groovy lounge tunes, funky house, techno and trip hop—spun by some of Bangkok elite’s tastemakers. Boozy options range from the luxurious looking cocktails like Forever Pink (B350) is mixed with Absolut pear, Giffard peach, apple juice, lime juice and topped with a cotton candy, or classics with a twist like gin and tonics (from B420) served with different add-ons depending on the type of gin you choose—pick Hendricks for a drink paired with cucumber slices and rosemary.
