It's been a rough year for Bangkok's nightlife scene, with prolonged alcohol bans and threats to online booze sales casting a dark cloud over the industry. However, a ray of light is shining through with the imminent launch of Mitr Samphan Brewery.

That’s right, the folks behind local craft beer project Mitr Craft—the country’s first legal Thai craft beer brewery—and its Victory Monument outlet Mitr Bar are gearing up to open a shiny new bar and brewery in the ‘burbs. Take a trip up to Nonthaburi on Aug 8 for the grand opening, “Mitr Night,” and check out the (legal!) on-site micro brewery—the first of its kind in Thailand.

Craft beer lovers should hit up the event from 2:30-4pm, when craft beer pioneer Wichit Saiklao, a.k.a. Chit (of Koh Kret's legendary Chit Beer) and his Mitr Craft team will be on hand to talk about all things bright and brewtiful, but be sure to stay until booze is back on the taps post-5pm. Food trucks will also be on hand so you can line your stomach.

With zero parking available and copius amounts of beer, we advise that you take a cab to the event. For more information, check out Mitr Craft’s official Facebook page.

Mitr Brewery, 85/3 Tiwanon-Pak Kret Soi 21, 092-701-2488. Opening Aug 8, 11am-11pm
