In what might be Thailand’s best ever showing at the Asia’s 50 Best Bars awards to date, a total of seven Bangkok bars made the 2025 Top 50 list, including two placements in the top five.
Bar Us, which debuted on the list last year at No.21, jumped to No.4 overall in 2025, rising 17 spots and usurping Four Seasons’ BKK Social Club as the best bar in Thailand.
Just one spot below at No.5 was
Dry Wave Cocktail Studio, which appeared on the Top 50 list for the first time and earned the event’s “Highest New Entry Award”. Dry Wave has been Bangkok’s big cocktail bar success story this year—raking in the Bar of the Year and Best New Bar titles at the
BAD Awards 2025 and its absence from the 51-100 list released earlier this month signaled a significant jump up from the team’s No.98 ranking a year earlier.
It was an awards ceremony that saw 20 new entries into the Top 50, including four from Bangkok.
Four Seasons’ BKK Social Club, which reigned as the top Bangkok bar at last year’s awards, dropped 12 spots to No.19 in 2025.
GOD (Genius.on.Drugs), the latest and arguably most impactful project from Gunn Lee, Attapon De-Silva, and Niks Anuman, made its debut on the list at No.26.
Vesper, which has appeared on the Asia’s 50 Best list every single year of the event’s history dating back to 2016, came in at No.29 and picked up the “Legend of The List Award.”
Two more first-timers on the top 50 rounded out Thailand’s showing at the awards, including
Opium Bar (which also won
Best Cocktail Bar 2025 at the BAD Awards) at No.43. and the history-rich
Bar Sathorn at No.48.
Several prominent bars on last year's list, Tropic City, Asia Today Bar, and Bamboo Bar, were notably snubbed from the rankings all together in 2025.
Messenger Service Bar, which debuted on the 51-100 list two weeks ago at No.90, walked away with the Best Bar Design Award in the wake of its relocation to Yaowarat.
The announcement ceremony took place in Macau for the first time in the event’s history, and the show kicked off with its usual big pageantry, this time in the form of a traditional Chinese drum dance in front of a packed crowd at the auditorium inside Wynn Palace, one of the city’s most iconic resorts.
Just shy of two weeks ago, Asia’s 50 Best also announced their 51-100 list, with three Bangkok bars earning spots ahead of the announcement this evening in Macau. Mahaniyom Cocktail Club led the local picks at No.71—a sharp drop from its No.18 ranking last year—while Firefly at Sindhorn Kempinski held steady at No.82, a move one spot up from the previous year. New to the list is Messenger Service Bar, debuting at No.90 following its relocation to Yaowarat and the launch of its ingredient-driven “Grocery Store” cocktail concept.
Now that Asia’s 50 Best Bars has wrapped, the World’s 50 Best Bars 51-100 should be announced later this year.
