Not because of the pandemic, either.

Six years after bringing craft beer and gourmet burgers to Sukhumvit 11, a street most often associated with either cheap swill at roadside dives or high-priced cocktails at clubs, Brew Beers & Ciders and partner restaurant Daniel Thaiger are set to close their doors at their Soi 11 location.

The beer-and-burger partners will go out with a party on Nov 28, two days before shutting down for good. The farewell bash will include live music and promotional deals, as the venue tries to clear all its remaining stock. In other words, expect lots of knock-down prices on tasty beers.

According to a post on the Facebook event page, the bar had survived the April lockdown and persisted even beyond that, despite ongoing measures to combat Covid-19; it is instead closing “due to other circumstances we have no control over which have just been brought to our attention.”

After taking the city by storm in 2011 at its flagship location at Thonglor’s Seenspace, with its extensive range of imported Belgian and craft beer, plus loads of beer launches and events, Brew had expanded to four locations across Thailand. In the years since, the brand has gradually seen its venues whittled down, with only its partner venue, The Beer Cap, open at the moment.

No further information about the closure of this location was revealed, but the post did tease the opening of another Brew location in early 2021.

While you wait for the new Brew to open, you can still order Daniel Thaiger for delivery (Foodpanda, Grab, Lineman) or grab a burger from one of the food trucks. The folks behind Daniel Thaiger are also looking to add new brick-and-mortar locations, according to Chris Foo, founder of Brew and partner in Daniel Thaiger.

The upscale evolution of Soi 11, meanwhile, seems to have stalled, if it had ever truly materialized, as Brew joins the likes of Brasserie Cordonnier and The Bar Upstairs in having permanently closed in recent years.

Brew and Daniel Thaiger’s farewell party is scheduled to take place Nov 28, from 2pm-2am. For more information, check the official event page
