The second annual Asia's 50 Best Bars list was announced last night and five Bangkok bars made the cut.

Down from the six entrants last year, the Bangkok bars included on this year's list are reinvigorated jazz institution The Bamboo Bar at Mandarin Oriental at #13 (up from #34), Thonglor's Broadway-burlesque-themed Backstage Cocktail Bar at #18 (new entry), Asoke's creative speakeasy Q&A Bar at #34 (down from #26), Silom's serious drinking haunt Vesper at #40 (down from #17) and Chinatown's hip gin bar Teens of Thailand at #46 (down from #27). 

Sliding off the list from last year are Hyde & Seek and Maggie Choo's.

The awards are a spin-off of Drinks International's annual World's 50 Best Bars list which launched back in 2011. It's compiled by a panel of judges consisting of bartenders, bar consultants, brand ambassadors and drinks media.
