The Thai Film Archive returns with the third edition of its Salaya International Documentary Film Festival during Apr 1-7 at The Thai Film Archive (94, Moo 3, Salaya. 02-482-2013 www.fapot.org) and Apr 2-7 at BACC Auditorium (5/F, BACC, Rama 1 Rd., 02-214-6630. BTS National Stadium).

Activities include a documentary film competition (full lineup at www.facebook.com/SalayaDoc), and a three-day film workshop at BACC to be hosted by Indian filmmaker Sourav Sarangi whose recent documentaty Char…The No-man’s Island was a selection at the Busan and Berlin film festivals (download the application form at www.fapot.org).

In addition, there will special screenings of four selected documentaries from four Asian countries: Boundary (Thailand, Apr 1, 5pm), by director Nontawat Numbenchapol, a portrayal of soldiers in the three southernmost provinces of Thailand; Char… The No-man’s Island, about an island in India that has not been mapped and becomes a hot spot for illegal trafficking; Nargis—When Time Stopped Breathing (Burma), which documents the after effects of cyclone Nargis in 2008; and Queer Documentaries (various countries), four short documentaries on the topic of homosexuality set in Cambodia, Burma, Indonesia and Thailand.
