A total of 16 award-winning Dutch films will screen as part of the month-long Dutch Film Festival 2012 which kicks off this weekend at the Goethe Institute (Nov 5-8) before joining the 10th World Film Festival of Bangkok at SF World Cinema (Nov 16-25) and BACC (Nov 21-23). Highlights include:

Bukowski (2010): A short film about a young boy who starts calling himself Bukowski and imitating the reckless behavior in Charles Bukowski’s writing.

Meet the Fokkens (2011): The story of Louise and Mertine Fokkens who have worked as prostitutes for over 50 years. Now at the age of 69, Louise is retiring due to arthritis, but Mertine still carries on working.

Win/Win (2010): A young investment banker, Ivan, becomes an overnight sensation, but trading increasingly takes over his life.

Hollands Licht (2003): A documentary that explores the ancient myth that the light in the Netherlands is different from in other parts of the world.

Dazzle (2009): A Buenos Aires surgeon calls a woman in Amsterdam that he believes he previously met in Cuba, and a long distance passion develops over the phone line.
