After years at Aspire, Swiss trainer Jamal Younis has now opened his own gym.

Inside Lift Strength and Conditioning, you will find only barbells, racks and a rowing machine—so if you hate cardio, this could be the gym for you.

The gym is designed to build strength for a lifetime and is suitable for all ages and body shapes—current members range from 12-69 years old.

Younis focuses on Olympic lifting, using proper techniques to protect against injury, though the exercises can also be tailored to those with existing injuries.

“This kind of exercise will benefit you as you grow older,” says Younis. “If you already squat at 40kg, getting up from a chair will be easy for you when you’re old.”

Group sessions are designed to be private and can hold up to only three people, priced at B1,400 per person, per session. Membership for a personal training session starts from B2,500 per session, or B2,200 per session if you buy a 15-session package.

Younis moved to Chiang Mai in 2010 to train Muay Thai before moving to Bangkok in 2013.
