[Sponsored] Getting fit and healthy in Singapore just keeps getting trendier, and this year is no different. From signing up for the newest exercise craze to shopping for the perfect gym outfit to buying the healthiest organic food, the ever-changing wellness landscape sure keeps health nuts on their toes. Here are some new trends to keep up with in Singapore.
Even if you're a committed gym bunny, sitting on your butt at the office stress-eating all day long will undo all your hard work. Luckily, the number of health food options in Singapore that can be delivered to your desk are increasing all the time. There's delivery services like BoxGreen and MadeReal, that bring healthy snacks to your desk every month, but lately we're really into Food Matters, which delivers healthy, nutritionally balanced lunches to your office, complete with detailed nutrition information and plenty of yummy local options.
Contours Express
Gymnastics studios, barre studios, kickboxing gyms—boutique gyms are super hot these days, offering a cozy alternative to the anonymous, crowded, CBD experience. Contours Express, for example, is a rare women's-only gym boutique chain that focuses on super-short, 29-minute, circuit training, as well as goal-setting, result-tracking and coaching at no extra cost. Best part: they have conveniently located branches in heartlands islandwide, so you can stop by for a quick session on your way home.
Under Armour
When you're on the fence about working out, busting out that cute ensemble you just bought can be great motivation for going to the gym. Last year the news was abuze with the arrival of athletic wear bigwigs Under Armour (their graphic tanks are especially cool) and subtly girly yoga and cardio specialists Lululemon's first and second stores. If that's a bit pricey for you, you'll be excited to learn about the Decathlon's "largest store in Southeast Asia" over in Bedok. The brand is famous for its sporting gear but also affordable athletic shoes, gym clothes and more.
Green Corridor Run
If you're bored of doing your cardio runs on the sidewalks, you'll be pleased to know that running in the semi-wilderness of Singapore's expanding green spaces is the emerging trend this year. Not only is there the last-ever Green Corridor Run in March, the new and much-hyped off-shore Coney Island is hosting a run, too, on Apr 16. Remember, though, that for trail runs, some cross training will do you good, so throw in some weight training, HIIT and other workouts.
