A visit to the spa is often a thing to do during special occasions (we're not talking about 10-min foot massages here). If you're set on indulging yourself, why not swap the usual spa cliches for an all-new pampering experience at one of these unique places.

Aramsa - The Garden Spa

Nestled within Bishan park, you’d never guess to find this beautiful garden spa that’ll give you a quick respite from the hustle and bustle of the city. Expect a resort-like spa experience right in the heart of this national park, with 17 unique treatment rooms that boast outdoor showers and individual garden courtyards. They offer a wide range of massages—try the Aramsa Ritual ($223 for 90mins) which features cup gliding therapy. Or just soak in the ambience, literally, in a Milk & Rose nourishing outdoor garden bath ($104 for 30mins). Bishan Park 2, 1 Ang Mo Kio Ave.

ESPA

Lush greenery, stunning pools and luxurious villas. It may sound like yet another over-promising resort spa, but this tranquil oasis is for real. It features Singapore’s first authentic Turkish Hammam ($175 for 45mins), a Middle Eastern bathing ritual, set in a spacious minimalist venue with mosaic-tiled furnishings and a (surprisingly comfortable) marble slab for you to lie on. Wash away your stresses under the oversized showers followed by a trip to the hammam’s own steam room. It doesn’t end there, though; explore the 10,000 square feet grounds to experience the other facilities such as the gorgeous forest onsen-style pools and rock saunas. 8 Sentosa Gateway

g.spa

Once inside, you’ll find a quiet, subdued and frankly huge spa. The decor is Roman amphitheater meets Vegas casino—think sandstone columns, mosaic pools, beach cabana juice huts and indoor plastic palm trees. The lighting is dark, the voices are hushed and the mood is chilled and quiet (which makes it very easy to lose track of time and just how long you've spent there). What makes g.spa different is the 24-hour stay you’re entitled to with the purchase of a main treatment (from $155), which comes with free-flow food, (non-alcoholic) drinks and full use of the facilities. #02-02, 102 Guillemard Rd.

Ikeda Spa Prestige

Ikeda Spa makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a whole other country. In this case it’s Japan, and the ryokan-style treatment rooms are inspired by the four seasons and equipped with iPads so regulars can switch up the music. The star of the show is their onsen-style bath ($80 for 30mins) filled with steaming hot, mineral-laden water against a backlit screen showing wintery scenery so you can imagine you’re at a hot spring resort in the middle of December. If it’s your first Ikeda Spa experience, try the Geisha Organic Facial ($240 for 90 minutes), which uses all-organic Chidoriya products and UV-sanitized nightingale droppings to smoothen and lighten skin. #05-22 Clarke Quay Central, 6 Eu Tong Sen St.

Kew Organics

This ladies-only "beauty bar" focuses on organic treatments and products. They've got their very own line of water-based organic skincare products from Japan and Canada that are fresh, vegan and non-GMO to deliver naturally beautiful and makeup-free skin. Facials start at $150 for a Clear Skin Hydra Deluxe Facial, and go up to $330 for an anti-wrinkle Q10 RF Organic Facial and $650 for their top-end Factional Skin Resurfacing Treatment Facial. #01-47, Blk 2 Everton Park

Masego

Enter a safari-themed spa that’s spacious and airy with lots of wooden furnishings and paintings of animals. This is one spa that takes their jungle theme very seriously, and we're talking about massages in actual canopy tents. Treatments on offer include their signature Tropical Abyss deep-tissue massage ($72 for 60mins), and Jungle Fever Quick Massage ($40 for 30mins) for the head, shoulders, neck and hands. Ear candling, body scrubs and gua sha treatments are also available from $30 onwards. 3/F Safra Jurong, 333 Boon Lay Way

Nimble/Knead

Designed around the unlikely concept of shipping containers (the idea is to transport you to the ends of the world), this pampering spot forgoes the usual Zen look for a raw, industrial aesthetic, replete with steel container walls, raw wooden boxes and concrete floors with quirky decals of birds, cages and nature. It has the usual spa offerings like body massages (from $64), foot reflexology ($42 for 60mins), body masks ($69 for 45mins) and scrubs ($69 for 45 minutes). 66 Eng Watt St.

The Luxe House

This indulgent high-end spa looks to stand out with a flashy interior design and an unusual range of foot-focused treatments. The design is modern art gallery meets dimly lit cocktail bar. The interiors are dark, textured and opulent—think high-backed plush armchairs, hanging orchids, glittering chandeliers and gathered velvet curtains; it’s almost like stepping into the home of European royalty. Signature treatments include the 60-min traditional acupressure foot massage ($138) and the 100-min Royal Meridian Foot and Back Therapy ($198), which includes a hot stone treatment for your legs and back and cupping on your feet. #B1-149/150/01D Galleria Level, The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, 2 Bayfront Ave.
