MUSIC: Road to Waterzonic 

Yellow Claw will be one of the biggest EDM DJs to take over the new RCA venue, bringing with him a hip-hop and trap-focused set that has previously rocked the stages of Tomorrowland, EDC and Amsterdam Music Festival as pre-game to Waterzonic this November. Local support from Monster P, Bang Bang Bang, Sunny, Knatz and MC Ling of King.

FAIRS: International Bangkok Bike

Returning for its sixth year to celebrate all things related to biking, the International Bangkok Bike expo will be selling the latest bicycle models, biking gear and bike equipment from Bangkok’s best manufacturers.

The blonde bombshell from the renowned electro-pop band Futon performs a night of live jazz and electro at Maggie Choo's.

THEATER: Fly with Me Free Breakfast: Queer Edition

Director Damkerng Thitapiyasak returns with a queer edition of his successful play from last year, Fly With Me, Free Breakfast, a slapstick comedy inspired by the French farce Boeing-Boeing. The performance tells the story of Bodin, a young bachelor who dates three male stewardesses from three different airlines, and his attempts to maintain the relationships without each of the men finding out about each other.

MARKETS: Art Box Signature Chapter 5

If you’re a market fan, you’ll probably have been to one “chapter” of this gigantic outdoor market already—and have Instragrammed at least one funky-looking dessert. They’ve just recently revamped the venue for a new series of colorful stalls this month, so there’s no excuse not to check it out.

ART: Mega Dot 

The first public art exhibition for Thai artist Siwan Sandlakorn, a graduate in packaging design and art at Rajamangala University, touching on the idea of how the smallest things make up the big picture in art and in life.

OPERA: Prince Igor 

As part of Bangkok's 17th International Festival of Dance and Music, the Samara Opera Theatre performs Prince Igor, an opera performance about the life of the 12th-century Russian prince and his campaign to protect the country from the invading Cuman tribes. Thai and English subtitles.

ART: Spirit of Sanam Luang

Award-winning photographer Cherwood Sakolaya has captured the daily lives of people around the famous park in a series of dramatic black and white photos. The collection portrays the simplicity of Thailand’s identity from a bygone era that still survives in the streets of the Old Town today.

GIGS: Secret Gig Presents "The End Is Not The End"

A full lineup of Thai rock bands ranging from Jimmy Revolt (melodic punk rock) to Sudden Face Down (nu metal).

Saturday (Oct 3)

MUSIC: Free Open Air

Hosted by local house and techno doyen Coran, along with the Kolour crew, Free Open Air returns for its second instalment of day-time partying. Expect quality food trucks, techno tunes, craft beer and plenty of fresh air amid a laidback party atmosphere.

ART: Retrospective by Alec Monopoly 

LA-based street artist Alec Monopoly holds his first solo exhibition at MOCA. Alec is known for his artworks of famous pop-culture characters such as Scrooge McDuck, The Hulk and the Monopoly Man. He has also collaborated with Ultra Music Festival, AVICII and Madonna. His work will be available for sale at the exhibition.

NIGHTLIFE: Phatfunk Drum&Bass ft. Retraflex and Koyuki

Phatfunk is back with their monthly drum 'n' bass night featuring British DJ and music producer Retraflex, known for tracks like "Apocalypse feat. MC Spyda." Alongside him Indonesian DJ Koyuki, regarded as one of Asia's most innovative female DJs, makes her Bangkokd debut.

MUSIC FESTIVALS: Happening@house*6 New Indie

Happening magazine's annual festival brings a new generation of art and entertainment to House RCA, with live music by Stoondio, Abstraction XL, Moving and Cut, Monomania, and Young Man and The Sea, to name a few. Expect young designer brands like Troopers, Fluffy, Twinkle, Finger Mark, Me Design and Aberable, as well as booths by indie music labels and book publishers like A Book, Salmon and Fullstopbook.

OPERA: Tosca

A melodramatic three-act opera by the Samara Opera Theatre, based on Victorien Sardou's 1887 French-language play set in 1800 Rome when Naples was threatened by Napoleon's invasion of Italy. Under the baton of Golden Mask winner Alexander Anisimov.

FILM SCREENINGS: A Handful of Rice

Back in 1938, Swedish film director Paul Fejos travelled to Thailand and captured the daily lives of Thai rice farmers on his camera. A Handful of Rice is an insightful look back to what life in Thailand was like at that time, as seen from the perspective of someone who has traveled from the other side of the world.
