ART: Sites of Solitude

100 Tonson Gallery launches a huge nine-month exhibition this Apr 9, featuring the work of internationally recognized Thai artist Chatchai Puipia, who’s known for his socially controversial paintings. On top of his new self-portraits, Sites of Solitude also brings together unseen still-lifes, exclusive artworks completed throughout his career, as well as a debut of his “Living Archive,” which chronologically takes the audience through decades of his life’s work, plus a special installation by the artist himself.

ART: Bizarre Land by Charit Pusiri

Also opening this Thursday at Ardel's Third Place Gallery is this exhibition that's been a hit on the social media, with photographs and reproductions of photographs that depict the new social norms in Thai society. Japanese artist Soichiro Shimizu builds on his recent Sculpere exhibition with large-scale photographs of his temporary sculptural installations, which make use of living trees and explore the delusion of things being more beautiful than they are. Opening at 7pm, Apr 10.

EDM fans won’t want to leave Bangkok this holiday, as Pepsi S2O Songkran’s Official Electronic Dance Music Festival promises to make your RCA water-splashing time even more epic. Elektro Delikatessen organizes another big one at RCA, bringing Berlin DJs Fritz Kalkbrenner (check out video above) and Alex Rath over to the live music venue on Apr 11 for the Elektro Liquid Festival. Local support includes Ikono, Mendy Indigo, Fred Canal, Krit Morton, Dan Buri and The Outsider. The outdoor area kicks off at 5pm, and stage two starts at 7pm. Expect a 25-square-meter LED screen, with lighting effects and visuals. Tickets are B750 (one free drink), available at the door.
