FILM SCREENINGS: German Open Air Cinema

The Goethe Institut of Thailand hosts its annual series of weekly film screenings in a relaxed, garden environment. Celebrating contemporary German films and emerging filmmakers, this year’s movies include Dominik Graf’s The Beloved Sisters (2014), Robert Bramkamp’s Art Girls (2013), Stefan Haupt’s The Circle (2014), and Edward Berger’s Jack (2014).

ART: Elephant Parade

An open-air exhibition featuring brightly decorated elephant statues hand-painted by a large group of artists and celebrities. The pieces will be auctioned for charity, with proceeds going to elephant conservation projects across the country.

MUSIC: A Tribute to King of Jazz Concert

Grammy-nominated John di Martino performs acoustic jazz songs from his albums "A Tribute to King of Jazz Vol. 1" and "A Tribute to King of Jazz Vol. 2", in celebration of His Majesty the King's 88th birthday anniversary. He'll be joined by European jazz vocalist, Malene Mortensen.

A collection of fine art pieces by nine selected Thai artists including Sippawit Polsing, Somsak Sammatochanon and Aumnuysak Srisuk.

To support the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal to half global food waste, UNEP & OzHarvest organizes an exclusive lunch prepared using saved ingredients by chefs from Bo.Lan, Nahm, Dusit International and more. It will also be followed by a panel discussion about issues of food waste and food sustainibility.

MARKET: Area Five Bangkok Art and Market Fair

Taking over the vast five-rai space at Airport Rail Link Makkasan previously home to Artbox, this fair promises 550 shops spread across six zones: art, food, fashion, music, design and craft. An opportunity for the young generation of Thai artisans to exhibit their artwork and design products.

ART: Bangkok Street Show

Acts from 30 street performers and buskers from around the world take over Lumphini Park with plenty of music, theater, dance, acrobatics and circus acts. Expect mime performances from the Babymime trio (Thailand), acrobatics from Chinese Acrobat Art Troupe (Japan/China), magic from Charlie Caper (Sweden), juggling and music from The Chipolatas (UK/Australia) and plenty more.

MUSIC: Fung Jai Loy Concert

The team from the online music zine Fungjai presents live music from local artists Jinta, View from the Bus Tour, Youth Brush, Penguin Villa, and Jedsada and Prakasit.

MUSIC: Nathan East Charity Concert

The world-renowned American jazz musician, who's worked with everyone from Eric Clapton to Daft Punk, performs in celebration of His Majesty the King’s 88th birthday, with a portion of the proceeds to be donated to the Siriraj Foundation. The concert will also feature special guest appearances from famous Thai singers Nantida Kaewbuasai, Pijika (Lookwa) Jittaputta and M.R. Jiyakom Kittiyakara.

Seattle-native Mike Hadreas brings his confrontational, emotionally raw brand of indie-pop to town, with songs such as "Queen", "Grid" and "Fool".

The inventive US post-rock three-piece come to town on the back of its third album, La Di Da Di. Support from Indonesia's Bottlesmoker and locals DXCNTR.

MARKET: The Great Outdoor Market

Returning to the awesome original venue, in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Bangkok Docklands Company Limited, the outdoor festivities will feature pop-up cafes, art installations and designers' stores, plus live bands on a boat, all amid the chilled-out riverside atmosphere we fell in love with.

Because what would the end-of-year celebrations be without massive Boxing Day sales? This brand-new handmade and design market, organized by the same team behind Zaap on Sale, is set to be one of the biggest.

MARKET: Common Fest 

A music and design market by Chula's Industrial Design Faculty, featuring music from Gym and Swim, The Parkinsons, Solitude is Bliss, Nap A Lean and Lost Flower, plus an art exhibition by ID and CommDe student members. There will also be plenty of stalls to shop from, as well as silkscreen, ceramics and paper marbling workshops. 

This is probably the closest Bangkok ever gets to having an actual Christmas market. For the past couple years the T77 Sansiri Community has been hosting this outdoor market where shops and pop-up stores take over the scenic San Samran bridge. This year’s will be divided into six zones: food, stardust, trend, art and craft, pet and family.

A concert K-pop fans will not want to miss as the three main vocalists of the popular South Korean boy band take over the Bangkok stage with hits such as "Promise You" and "Join Hands".

Another huge night of EDM headlined by the world-famous French DJ and producer, David Guetta. The full line-up hasn't been announced just yet, but so far we know that he'll be joined by Indian-American EDM sensation, KSHMR, as his South East Asia debut.
