THEATER
M1 Singapore Fringe Festival is back for its 13th edition. There’s been some controversy in the lead-up, with two shows not getting ratings due to “excessive nudity”. But you can still catch Madge of Honor’s Foreign Bodies, Tan Liting’s Pretty Butch and a bunch of other envelope-pushing shows. Jan 4-15

Cultural Medallion award-winner Amanda Heng is having an artist panel discussion about her first-ever solo gallery exhibition, titled "We Are the World - These Are Our Stories" presented with STPI and part of Singapore Art Week. Jan 6

FILM
If you haven’t seen it already, go watch 1987: Untracing the Conspiracy, about the detainees of an alleged Marxist plot in Singapore in the 80s, at The Projector. The filmmaker, Jason Soo, and some of the ex-detainees will be doing a Q&A after the screening. Jan 7

American burlesque performer Madge of Honor, who's in town for M1 Singapore Fringe Festival’s Foreign Bodies, will be conducting an exclusive two-hour burlesque basics class at the newly reopened Kilo Lounge at Tanjong Pagar. The class is available at $60 per person. Jan 8

Also part of Singapore Art Week, Fantasy Islands is an exhibition, curated by Kin Chui and Mitha Budhyarto, comprising work seven artists from Indonesia and Singapore, looking at the manifold relations between Batam and Singapore. Jan 10

Part of Singapore Art Week, Contemporary Printmaking Festival will be having live demonstrations, music performances and exhibition. Learn all about silkscreen, letterpress and Intaglio printing. But the highlight will definitely be an artists’ book exhibition showcasing works from 20 artists and printmakers. Jan 10

Art Stage Singapore is back for the seventh year. It will be showcasing 173 galleries from 30 countries. And for the first time, they are presenting The Collectors’ Stage, a collaboration with online retail portal The Artling, which will feature works from six leading Singapore-based collectors. After moving from Jiak Kim, Zouk has finally reopen its doors officially at Clarke Quay. The “neo-industrial” decor and sister cocktail bar Red Tail have already created a buzz on social media. Jan 13

The first-ever Singapore Palestinian Film Festival is happening at The Projector, with five titles, including the especially exciting Speed Sisters, about the first all-female racing team in the Middle East. Jan 19-22

Budding art collectors, take note: Singapore Contemporary Art Show returns for the second year with highlights like the first curated platform dedicated to photography. Salsa your way through Singapore International Latin Festival and its three night of shows and parties, 30 dance workshops from salsa, bachata, afro and more. Jan 20-23

CONCERT
Metallica is coming back to Singapore after four years. Singapore is currently their only stop in Southeast Asia, and they'll be performing at the slightly smaller Singapore Indoor Stadium. Jan 22

Hot Tiong Bahru restaurant Open Door Policy recently extended the gluten- and dairy-free treatment to their famous Sunday brunch. One of the highlights is the (healthier) version of the English breakfast: smoked bacon, sausage, tomato, beans. Jan 22

Greyhound Cafe has recently landed in Paragon. The massive, 110-seater space is the fashion cafe’s 13th outlet outside of Bangkok and the trendy menu includes their famous staples, like the fried chicken wings, a DIY dish involving a stack of rice noodle wrappers and the famous Thai green curry with chuck toast. Thirteen Duxton Hill by two of the founding partners of Melbourne’s super hot 2015 opening Lume serves a different menu of 13 dishes and drinks every day. ART
This fifth edition of the Singapore Biennale, titled “Atlas of Mirrors” is showcasing 58 pieces and installations from 60 artists (10 of which are Singaporean) and three art collectives. Through Feb 26

EXHIBITION
Marvel's AVENGERS S.T.A.T.I.O.N. exhibition is on display at the Science Centre. Pretend you're a recruit at The Avengers headquarters and go on a behind-the-scenes journey into the lives of Captain America, Iron Man, The Hulk, Black Widow and Ant-Man. Through Mar 5
