Jealous with Flappy Bird's success (and everyone who is sobbing today about its demise), we went looking for great Made in Thailand apps. What we found: six locally-engineered apps that harness the sound made by blowing into a whistle.

Two options paced at different intervals and a volume bar. This is actually the least irritating one out there. Think of it as the center right option for the politically timid.

2. นกหวีด by Lab to real
Launched in Dec 8 2013

This app gives you four different sounds: whistle, hand clapper, foot clapper, and air horn. Perfect for farmers who are only temporarily supported the PDRC and intend on going back to their foot-clapping Red Shirt ways as soon as they've been paid for their rice.

3. นกหวีด ธงชาติไทย by Baboo Soft
Launched in Jan 6
1,000+ downloads

This app offers 4 different whistles with 4 equally irritating sounds. Most importantly, the whistles are totally bling making it the ideal choice for the red-white-and-blue headband wearing Khun Nu who believes protesting is very much a question of personal style,

4. นกหวีด by Aphinop Supawaree
Launched on Jan 6
5,000+ downloads

This app only features on sound and one whistle, and to keep the whistle going, you may need to repeatedly tap on it. The most basic app, it taps into the whole por piang philosophy. A good one for the political monks out there.

5. นกหวีด by TSAdvanced.com Services
Launched on Jan 15
1,000+ downloads

This has got to be the most annoying one. The length of the sound depends on how long you put your finger on the whistle for. For a shorter sound, just tap the whistle. Best for children in middle school who have been dragged to the protests by their activist parents.

6. นกหวีด by Ludkrob Production
Launched on Nov 10
5,000+ downloads

An on and off button determines how long your whistle blows. Easiest to use, even technophobe aunties should be able to master this one on their Samsung Galaxy Mini.

All apps available on the Android Google Play Store only.
