Asia's answer to Netflix is launching in Singapore next week
They promise new movies, ready for streaming as soon as they become available.
Taiwanese digital content subscription service Catchplay is launching in Singapore on Aug 16, and we're cautiously excited. The streaming service, which was available on Starhub as a cable channel back in June, will be available across all devices and telcos next week.
Ok, so it's not exactly like Netflix. There's no monster back catalogue of old movies and series. Instead, the focus is on new movie releases, as soon as they're available for streaming, and related content on actors and directors. They're also promising a focus on local movies. The selection in Singapore, we've heard, is not super broad yet, but they're adding new titles as they go.
There are other cool features, like seamless streaming, meaning you can pause on your desktop and continue watching in the cab on your phone (you can't watch on two devices at the same time, though).
There's meant to be an introductory offer announced next week that'll give you two months for free. Stay tuned on their Facebook, or just sign up for a free account, which entitles you to one free movie per month.
