Though we'd love to fly to Japan or head to one of Bangkok's high-end omakase joints every time we have a craving for salmon nigiri, we're far more likely to call on the ever-reliable Foodpanda, Lineman, or GrabFood to deliver the goods. But there's nothing worse than waiting an hour for your food to arrive, only to be met with fishy smells and crumbly rice. We tested seven of the most popular sushi delivery options to save you from that potential disappointment.

Sushi Masa Winner!

The taste: This visually appealing sushi looks authentic and fresh-made. The fish tastes high-quality and has the right texture; it's not too fatty and there's just the right amount of vinegar on the rice to bring out the flavor of the fish.
Verdict: Perfect balance.
Price: B80 per piece
65/3 Athenee Residence Building, Witthayu Rd., 02-168-5214. Available on Lineman.

Nippon Kai Runner Up!

The taste: Though smaller in size than the rest, the fish is not too fatty and offers a firm yet tender texture. Unfortunately, the flavor is a little bland. Still, it's not bad for delivery.
Verdict: You're alright.
Price: B60 per piece
G/F, Siam Paragon, 02-610-7622. Available on Lineman.

Sushi Den

The taste: Visually beautiful—almost too pretty to eat! The generously thick cut of fish is disappointingly overshadowed by its too soft texture and sour rice.
Verdict: Looks aren't everything.
Price: B80
Various branches; try Siam Square Soi 1. Available on GrabFood.

Sei Ryu Sushi

The taste: The salmon on this bite-sized sushi looks a little pale, but it has a firm texture and a decent taste. However, the rice is too vinegary and the pieces are too small.
Verdict: Needs work.
Price: B60 per piece
Sala Daeng Soi 1, 02-636-3342. Available on Lineman.

Sushi Hiro

The taste: Visually pleasing, but the rather thin slice of salmon is fishy and cheap tasting. Overall, very bland sushi—all the way down to the rice.
Verdict: Something's fishy.
Price: B80 per piece
Various branches; try Ramintra Soi 57, 063-217-7076. Available on Lineman.

Kaizen Sushi & Hibachi

The taste: The thick, firm chunk of fish appears promising at first. Unfortunately,  the salmon is way too fatty and greasy, making the size more of a chore than a pleasure. The rice is tasteless and falls apart.
Verdict: Seconds? No, thanks.
Price: B70 per piece
318 Evergreen Place, Phayathai Rd., 02-215-2972. Available on FoodPanda.

Honmono Sushi Yikes!

The taste: This one is a complete disaster. It doesn’t even look appealing, and seems like end-of-the-day, tired, poor fish. The salmon tastes oily and even sour, with an awful "fishy" smell. We were shocked to find afterwards that this is by far the priciest of the lot.
Verdict: Can we get a refund?
Price: B150 per piece
Various branches; try 4/F, Siam Paragon, 991/1 Rama 1 Rd., 02-610-9240. Available on Lineman.
