An orange and black decked streetfront restaurant, Deva on Sukhumvit Soi 39 has recently been swallowed up by what looks like a total renovation. A little birdie has told us that come February (or maybe March, or April or July—you know how these things go) the space will be a French restaurant by former Maduzi chef Nicholas Reynard, called Blanc Manger (not to be confused with the French bakery across the street called Le Blanc.) We were big fans in his Maduzi days, so we expect good things in 2011. A bit earlier in the year, around late Jan, expect Soul Food Mahanakorn (56/10 Sukhumvit Soi 55, 02-714-7708) to start serving brunch—dishes like waffles with curry, khao man kai, khao kha moo (pork knuckle), khai chiaw and choices from a raw bar. We hope they’ll serve brunchey versions of their heady cocktails, too.
