A modern twist on traditional southern sweets.

At the end of last year, an Old Town historic building in Charoenkrung was revamped into the Corner House, an artistic community and lifestyle space. Among the activities and bites is the new Juitee, a cafe offering a stream of contemporary and rare Phuket desserts and drinks.

Run by siblings, Juitee opened its first branch in Phuket around the beginning of the pandemic. Due to their combination of authentic recipes and trendy presentation, the business took off. Now, with its first outlet in Bangkok, the shop hopes to bring a little southern charm to the urbanites.

Their Ice-Creme Crêpe A-pong is a twist on one of Phuket’s most famous treats. It is originally taken from Malaysian desserts and consists of a crunchy-on-the-outside and soft-in-the-middle crepe. The slice of flour is served hot with coconut milk ice cream topped with salted egg cream and a crumble beneath.

If we’re talking Phuket desserts, o-eaw is something that always comes up. The jelly you see in the dish is an extract from the o-eaw seed mixed with banana until reaching a bouncy consistency. Because it's served with syrup, shaved ice, and fruits, this is a refreshers locals gravitate to when the weather gets unbearable.

For its online exclusive menu, Juitee offers their signature Tao Sor, a snack similar to the famous chinese salted egg pastry called kanom pia. But the team upgraded the recipe by reducing some trans fats and turning up the crispy and soft texture for four additional flavors: salted egg lava, teh tarik, creme brulee, and tiramisu. The buns go perfectly with a cup of coffee and tea.
