So long, Langsuan.

After the lockdown was eased and restaurants reopened, most of the city’s best got back to business by the middle of June. One did not, however, as Gaa, the boundary-pushing Indian restaurant run by chef Garima Arora, with a killer drinks program to boot, remained shuttered. Now, we have news to report.

Gaa is leaving its Langsuan location and preparing to move to a new place elsewhere in the city. Details are scant, but we’re told it could be somewhere in Sukhumvit. That’s a broad sweep, we know—we told you details were scant. Stay tuned for more, including an opening date.

According to the restaurant’s PR team, the new spot will “not only give us an opportunity to push our cuisine with Gaa but will also house a more casual Indian breakfast canteen by day and a wine bar by night.” The culinary philosophy, however, will not change. That means you can still expect vibrant Indian dishes made with traditional or forgotten Indian cooking techniques and Thai produce.

Although the restaurant might not open for a while, you can still get the Gaa experience this month. The team will be putting together a two-night dinner takeover at Spice Market at the Anantara Siam on Sep 25-26. On the menu will be 12 of their most famous dishes over the past few years, including savory betel leaf with duck vindaloo, Kerala “surf and turf” with caviar, koji bread and banana water, and the fantastic grilled baby corn (trust us: Gaa makes baby corn worth getting excited about).

The dinners are B3,800/person, with optional juice or wine pairing. Call 063-987-4747 or email [email protected] to book a table.
