A new project from a few Bangkok-based influencers, Barbylon, which opened its doors in Ladprao at the end of October, pays homage to, as you may have guessed, the ancient city of Babylon.

The bar's interior has blue and gold accents, recessed arches, marble tabletops, hanging plants from the rooftop, velvet-upholstered dining chairs, and stained glass mosaics that help recreate the long-lost city. The walls are enriched with geometric patterns and the subtle blue lighting reminiscent of the iconic Ishtar Gate.

While the bar’s interior pays homage to Babylon, its menu takes an experimental approach. The Pana Flor de Cana, blends sweet panna cotta with Flor de Cana rum. The Gaiwan drink is a playful twist on Chinese tea and is served in a teacup with apple slices arranged in the shape of a rose with edible gold glitter.

Other concoctions are presented in imaginative ways, whether they’re attached to a balloon or concealed in a box filled with smoke.

The food doesn’t come from the ancient capital, but instead is designed to compliment the cocktails. You’ll find comfort food like chicken toastie waffles, fried chicken, fries, and smoked duck.

Keep in the loop to check out their DJ sets. This weekend you’ll find DJ Aopsher and DJ Hadassah on Friday and Saturday respectively.
