Don’t question how this event came to be. Simply relish it.

In what might be the most interesting collaboration in Bangkok history, La Monita, one of our perennial favorite Mexican restaurants, is taking over the kitchen at American-operated Aderholt Annex (a.k.a. JUSMAG) this Dec 20.

For the uninitiated, JUSMAG is Bangkok’s version of an American Legion. More specifically, an American Legion you’d find in some small town in the U.S. Midwest—a wood-clad dive bar-slash-community hall, where you go to play darts, drink Coors Light and listen to whatever music the surly-but-reliable bartender feels like playing, whether it’s country, top 40 or, on occasion, EDM. It’s also maybe the only bar in Bangkok that sells quality American craft beer for as little as B120 a bottle.

To gain access, you have to ring a buzzer on an unmarked black metal door on Sathorn Rd. (near Sathorn Soi 1) and present your ID to the doorman.

The pop-up runs from 5-10pm, and the La Monita team promises all the hits: tacos, burritos, enchiladas and more, as well as drink specials, in case you tire of cheap Sam Adams.
