Knock and La Monita's new Mexican dishes are like nothing else in Bangkok
Deep-dish pizza? This collaboration is not your average Mexican fare.
Thonglor sneaker store-slash-American restaurant Knock is celebrating its first anniversary by collaborating with Bangkok's favorite Mexican institution, La Monita.
At the Knock x La Monita kitchen, chef Billy Bautista joins chef Chalee Kader to roll out LA-style Mexican street eats.
The resulting creations include the “chalupa,” a Mexican take on Chicago deep-dish pizza, layered with vegetables, cheese, crispy corn tortilla and toppings: seasoned ground beef (B220), chicken chorizo (B180) and sauteed pinto beans (B175).
The tacos vampiros served here are made by grilling tortilla and cheese before throwing in fillings, hence the crunchier crust and crispy cheese you get with the succulent meat. Go for the smoked beef brisket or beef barbacoa (smoked and steamed pulled beef chuck, both B350 for two tacos) fillings.
These new items are permanent additions to Knock's menu, which otherwise has been slimmed down slightly—fear not, favorites like the chicken cupcakes and duck confit mac 'n' cheese still remain.
Drop by the anniversary party tonight (Aug 16) from 7pm for some bites, with live DJs and plenty of booze.
