It was a big night for Gaggan Anand at the Asia’s 50 Best 2025 yesterday in Seoul, with the celebrity chef’s eponymous Gaggan taking home the night's top spot, earning its Best Restaurant in Asia spot after years as a Bangkok destination for local and traveling foodies.
Gaggan, found on Sukhumvit Soi 31, serves up elevated Indian and international fare in a space that’s designed to be as fun as it is complex. With just 14 seats, the 22-course tasting menu has made this space a bucket list dining destination.
Eight more Bangkok restaurants made their way onto the list this year. Coming in at No.6 is Thitid ‘Ton’ Tassanakajohn’s Nusara, the innovative space that made its name redefining modern Thai cuisine. This space was followed by Suhring at No.11, with Suhring twins taking home yet another prize.
Following close behind is Pichaya ‘Pam’ Soontornyanakij’s Thai-Chinese dining spot at No.13, which has an upstairs bar that also won Best Cocktail Bar at the BAD Awards on the same day. Then there’s Sorn at No.16, a restaurant that made worldwide headlines late last year for becoming the first restaurant in Thailand with three Michelin Stars. Le Du, another brainchild of Chef Ton, came in at No.20.
Moving into the second half of the list, Gaggan got another surprise with a new entry on the list for Gaggan at Louis Vuitton, debuting on the rankings at No.31. Baan Tepa, the Top Tables No.1 choice last year, came in at 44, and Samrub Samrub Thai rounded out the Bangkok offerings at No.47.
Asia’s 50 Best released their rankings for the top 51-100 restaurants, including six spots from around Bangkok, earlier this month. But, the World’s Best is still to come later this year in October.
