Diageo and Vesper present World Class Nights with Tom and Tristan

Still a rarity in Thailand (the only place known so far to have done it is Bo.lan), a successful cocktail and food pairing requires great mixologist and a legitimate chef who has extensive knowledge on food and the booze. On Dec 3, Luca Appino will collaborate with Diageo World Class’s Tom Aske and Tristan Stephanson, co-owners of the acclaimed Worship Street Whistling Shop bar, and London-based beverage consultancy Fluid Movement to present a four-course cocktail tasting dinner (B2,400). Or if you just want to focus on the avant-garde cocktails, made with molecular techniques, come on Dec 1, where Tom and Tristan will serve six special cocktails throughout the dinner service. There are only 60 seats available, so reservations are recommended.

A Dinner with Vincenzo

If you thought 100 labels of wine tasting is too much, then take your palate on a slower ride to the artisanal side of Italian wines. The wines of Vincenzo Abbruzzese’s Valdicava Estate are known are known for being 100-percent natural and made with no insecticides. Bling Kitchen Back Yard Party

To celebrate winter, the co-stars of Chanel 5’s Bling Kitchen, chef Chalee Kader of Surface and Jumrut “Day”Tutsanalawat of Thaitanium, will be hosting an all-you-can-eat barbecue party in the backyard of Smith on Nov 30. Ceretto Wine Dinner

On Dec 1, the executive chef at Intercontinental hotel, Leslie Stronach, will serve a five-course dinner at Fireplace Grill to go with wines from Cerretto. The new name on Bangkok’s dining scene is a relatively young company by old-world wine standards, founded in the 1960s, and specializes not just in classic Italian varietals like Barolo, Nebbiolo and Barbera, but also German Riesling. Stronach’s menu includes roasted foie gras with confit croquette and rhubarb jus paired with a Monsordo Langhe Rosso, and snowfish with mushrooms and asparagus paired with Ceretto’s Nebbiolo red. Find out for yourself on Nov 27-28 when Ayana Misawa, the chief winemaker of Yamanashi prefecture’s Grace Winery visits Yamazato at The Okura Prestige to present a six-course teppanyaki dinner in collaboration with head chef Shigeru Hagiwara. Pairings include Koshu Toriibira Vineyard, Private Reserve 2013 with Hokkaido scallop and, the hotel’s personal favorite, Cuvée Misawa 2009 with Japanese sirloin beef. B4,900 per head.

Riddler’s Paradise by Booza Wooza

Don’t just buy the cheapest Prosecco in Villa this New Year (you know the one, with the yellow label), Booza Wooza is back. Head to Quince on Nov 29 (2-6pm) to learn what else is available with this massive tasting of over 40 different sparkling wines from around the world. For B500 a person, Riddler’s Paradise by Booza Wooza includes proper Champagne as well as other varieties from France, Australia, Germany, Italy, Spain and Thailand accompanied by live music. If you want to know more, there are also limited-seating 60-minute workshops that give an introduction to various different grapes and sparkling wine-making techniques, priced at B500-1,000 per head.
