Know anything about Belgian food beyond fries and chocolate? No, nor did we until reading chef Koen Lefever’s all-Belgian menu for his residency at the Millennium Hilton’s Prime Steakhouse. There’s langoustine, there’s Jerusalem artichoke, there’s hay-roasted racks of lamb—all paired, of course, with lots and lots of beer. Taking place from Nov 24-29, the Belgian Food and Beer Marathon will not only feature modern interpretations of classic Belgian cuisine in a B3,500 degustation menu, but also a cooking class and lunch on Nov 28 featuring the same dishes and priced at B2,000.

Japan is now officially home to the best whiskey in the world, but what of the country’s wine industry? Find out for yourself on Nov 27-28 when Ayana Misawa, the chief winemaker of Yamanashi prefecture’s Grace Winery visits Yamazato at The Okura Prestige to present a six-course teppanyaki dinner in collaboration with head chef Shigeru Hagiwara. Pairings include Koshu Toriibira Vineyard, Private Reserve 2013 with Hokkaido scallop and, the hotel’s personal favorite, Cuvée Misawa 2009 with Japanese sirloin beef. B4,900 per head.

Garden Fare

Siam Kempinski is taking advantage of the dropping temperature to host an all-you-can-eat barbecue dinner from now-Jan 31. Every Thu-Sat, 6:30-10:30pm, the hotel will host a spread of grilled beef, lamb, seafood and plenty of other Western and Asian dishes in the garden of Brasserie Europa—one of the nicest patches of green space in the Siam area. Sorry to say, the B1,800 price only covers food and soft drinks. Free-flow wine and beer costs an extra B850.
