David Gelb’s Chef's Table returns for its fifth season on Sep 28, and there's a happy surprise in store for Bangkok foodies.

Chef Duangporn "Bo" Songvisava of Bo.Lan is among the latest names announced to appear on the acclaimed Netflix series which profiles a different world-renowned chef in each episode.

According to Eater, season 5 will reportedly focus on “chefs and cuisines whose stories have for too long been hidden,” and include visits to London, Istanbul and Barcelona.

Since 2009, chef Bo and her husband Dylan Jones have constantly pushed Thai fine dining to uncompromising extremes at Bo.lan through untold hours spent researching royal recipes and tracking down rare ingredients.

On top of their recent Michelin star, and No. 37 spot on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list, these long-time proponents of a zero-carbon footprint have thrown their weight behind a series of initiatives dedicated to spreading the good word on sustainability and the slow-food movement, like this year's {Re} food forum.

Appearing alongside chef Bo on the show will be the likes of Cristina Martinez of Philadelphia's Mexican restaurant South Philly Barbacoa, Musa Dağdeviren of Istanbul’s Çiya Sofrasi, Albert Adria of many projects in Barcelona, and Asma Khan of London's Indian restaurant Darjeeling Express.

Chef Bo is the second Bangkok-based chef to appear on Chef's Table, after chef Gaggan Anand back in season two.
