Beginning as a passion project from three design students, Bask Project is slowly becoming downton Bangkok’s comfort zone, welcoming art aficionados, cafe hoppers, and employees who want to WFH. 

 

Launched in March 2023, this multi-purpose shop is sprucing up Thonglor with some art and culture. Recent graduates slash co-founders Supapij “Medsai” Manusirivithaya, Yada Nualsanit, and Tanapol “Au” Phucharoen wanted to create a space where they could express their interests and lift up creative minds. 

 

“Since our uni days, my friends and I have loved to explore local cafes and find new places to work from,” Medsai tells BK. “There aren’t a lot of open creative spaces in Thailand, so we aim to create a cozy atmosphere for our customers to feel inspired by the art that surrounds this space.”

 

 

Upon acquiring this location, previously a 1980s fashion boutique, the three amigos got to work, maintaining the original structure and mixing it with their personal tastes. The second floor has a giant window pane with warm, welcoming sunlight—which would inspire the venue’s name.  

 

“We handpicked all the secondhand furniture like sofas and long tables, so the vibe doesn’t entirely resemble a restaurant or a cafe. There isn’t a specific reference point but there’s certainly a rustic flair to it.”

 

 

Bask Project also doesn’t fall short in the F&B department. Its bestseller Bask Boy Butter Cake (B130) comes from an old-school family recipe. The sweet treat features a cute illustration of the brand’s logo on the cake. Their coffee beans are sourced from Thailand and Myanmar, providing a fair range of fruity and nutty drinks.

 

In the past, the shop has hosted miscellaneous workshops from umeshu tutorials to flower arranging. 

 

 

Around the end of December, Bask Project will also welcome its first exhibition featuring the works of “pnk.ff” who is known for their adorable animal illustrations. 

 

Customers can stop by and support local artists’ creations: ceramic, zines, postcards, stickers, candles, stationeries, fashion accessories, and more.
