Trisara Phuket wants to make your NYE escape from Bangkok a memorable one

It’s almost the end of the year (thank god), and you know what that means: hospitality promotions coming out the wazoo. This holiday season and into the New Year, luxury hotel Trisara Phuket is launching a boatload of special dinners, promotions and events to keep you excited (but also relaxed, because let’s be honest you are on vacation) when it comes time to escape Bangkok this December.

From Dec 24 to Jan 3, there will be nine different events or promotions happening at the hotel. Some of them are single, one-off events, while others last the whole 10 days. Some of the highlights include special Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve dinners at PRU, Phuket’s only Michelin-starred restaurant. There are also excursions to the local organic farm where PRU sources many of its ingredients, as well as beach barbecues and New Year’s day brunches to keep that Champagne flowing long past the fireworks. There is also a Japanese omakase night as well if you are into high-wire sushi and nigiri.

The best part is that the hotel recently opened its newly finished cabanas on its private beachfront. The location makes it super easy to jump out of the cabanas and hop straight onto a sunset cruise or enjoy the beachside feasts. Parents can pamper themselves at the Jara Wellness spa while the kids enjoy time at the Kid’s Club.

Trisara is an award-winning luxury private pool villa and residences resort situated on a private bay in northern Phuket, Trisara features Michelin-star dining and unparalleled service, making this the ideal venue to celebrate end-of-year festivities with family and friends.  The exciting Festive Season offerings have been especially curated to provide guests plenty of enchanting dining and entertainment options during their stay.

Can Thailand ever fix its relationship with fast fashion?

What comes to mind when you hear the word fast fashion? A way to make money? A strain on the Earth? Or just cheap clothes? We spoke to four people who hold completely different stakes in fast fashion to find out what fuels our buy-it, bin-it addiction.

Johnnie Walker is celebrating 200 years by collaborating with some of Bangkok’s most respectable brands

Streetwear, ice cream, and cocktails; an unlikely combination but we’re happy to take it.

Good old Johnnie Walker has been a staple in Thailand for ages. Who doesn’t have a red-and-soda once in a while? The legendary Scottish whisky brand is celebrating its 200th birthday this month with a rebuff of its yearly “Keep Walking” campaign and a bunch of collaborations with well-respected Bangkok brands.

The most traditional pairing of the lot is with Vesper, the Convent Rd. pioneer helmed by award-winning mixologist Supawit “Palm” Muttarattana. Palm and Vesper are launching a canned mixer that takes inspiration from Johnnie Walker products. It’s meant as a kind of cocktail starter at home -- a canned drink that contains all of the ingredients of a cocktail except the booze.

The next one is by way of streetwear brand TKW, by way of fashion label Takara Wong. That brand has released a new collection titled “Walk Forward” that sticks to an easy-to-wear framework and leans on the more colorful and vibrant side of the clothing spectrum.

The next one is our favorite for obvious reasons. Guss Damn Good has launched a new ice cream flavor inspired by the 200-year-old brand. The flavor is based around Johnnie Walker flavor profiles, but they don’t elaborate any more than that. It’s Guss Damn Good though, so we have a lot of faith the new ice cream flavor will hit the mark.

To celebrate this whole shebang in a more formal way, Johnnie Walker is hosting an actual party: “Awakening Bangkok 2020”. The event will include sculptures, activities and even a film premiere in Thonburi and Charoenkrung areas between Dec 11-20.

Siam Center just locked in a bunch of limited edition Jordans, Air Force and the new Star Wars-Adidas collaboration

Siam Center is certainly making a push to become one of Bangkok’s sneaker epicenters. It’s already home to the largest Nike flagship store in Thailand, as well as a beefy flagship joint for Adidas Originals, JD Sports, and Under Armor (yep, Under Armor makes shoes). Now, the mall is promoting the arrival of some sneaker collections that will make your head implode if you are into the shoe game.

The main highlight, at least if you ask us, are the new Air Jordan 1 Zoom CMFTs. They are not exact replicas of the original Air Jordan 1s (a pair of the OG Chicago can cost more than B650,000), but they do a decent job. The shoes come in white and cream-toned leather with black laces, so don’t wear this stuff in the rain, please.

That’s not just it, though. Adidas Originals at Siam Center now holds the new Adidas x Star Wars The Mandalorian Collection, a group of nine different shoes that imitate color schemes from the show and have drawing of the characters on their soles. The Adidas x Pharrell Williams 3rd Collection is also getting a release at the same time. Those come in bright yellow with the word “Human Race” written across in Hindi.

If you are a fan of Air Force 1s, then JD Sports has you covered with the Air Force 1 07 CU5625-122 (nice name, guys), which are a kind of cloth-y reimagining of one of the most iconic baller shoes of all time.

There’s a bunch more at Siam Center, too. Check out some of the pics below or head down there to burn through your hard-earned money like it’s worth nothing.
