Director Nawapol Thamrongrattanarit, the man behind Thai mind-bender 36 (2012) suggests you forget all about that film before delving into his latest, very different offering, Mary is Happy, Mary is Happy. Drawing inspiration from a Twitter stream, the film tells the story of high school senior Mary (Patcha Poonpiriya) as she struggles to come to grips with a number of strange events. The first official teaser is out and it’s full of explosions and schoolgirls swearing. After premiering at the 70th Venice International Film Festival, it’s set to screen in Bangkok from Nov 28.
