Independence Bar (NEW!)

The newest cocktail bar by the brains behind Teens of Thailand focuses on wine and wine-based cocktails. Since it’s mixed, that takes the pressure off focusing on the right tasting notes. Grab the classic cocktail, New York Sour (bourbon, lemon, sugar, eggwhite, topped with Noval Fine Ruby Port wine, B400), to get you started.

Yes, your regular breakfast place now serves natural wines. The list isn’t long, but you’ll find they have interesting labels, like the biodynamic Fritz Wieninger Wiener Grüner Veltliner 2018 from Austria (B1,700), a nice, floral bottle perfect for day-drinking. For red, try this organic from South Australia: Salomon Estate Baan Shiraz 2017 (B340/glass; B1,600/bottle). At 20% off between 5-7pm, they are also open until 9pm at the moment.

Mod Kaew Wine Bar

Gone are the wine bars where people sit neatly and sip and whisper. At Mod Kaew, a Thai phrase for ‘bottoms up’, you open a bottle (or a few) and just have fun. This is a natural wine bar, so expect to see some funky looking labels begging to be grabbed while you're there. With 180-240 labels to choose from, prices start at B1,400 to the moon.

Cloud Wine, The Commons Sala Daeng

This wine place is a bottle shop by one of the pioneer importers of natural wines in Thailand, Wine Garage—a pedigree selection indeed. Here you will find over 80 labels of both organic and biodynamic bottles imported by Wine Garage themselves (the majority) and other natural wine importers. What’s fun about this place is the shop changes the theme and selects a few special bottles for you to try every week, so you’ll always be learning new things about natural wines. Prices start at B1,100 per bottle.

W8 Space (NEW!)

This new wine bar brings a London vibe to Charoennakorn Soi 10; the name is the postcode for the Kensington neighborhood of London. Offering a comfy, homey drinking space—like going to a friend’s house to open a few bottles and catch up, just like we did during the lockdowns in Bangkok. Prices start at B210 per glass or B1,100 per bottle. Some bottles will also have the “Owner’s Favorite” tag to them to help you choose.

The Rose Natural Wine Bar

Previously sharing the space with Sukhumvit Soi 38’s defunct Hands and Heart cafe at night in 2019, this tiny natural wine bar found a new home nearby at H Dining. Transforming the old roastery behind H Dining into cozy natural wine bar-slash-gallery hidden behind thick, red curtains. The bar rotates  artwork regularly and focuses on serving wines by the glass (B320 for all labels). Don’t underestimate its small size; at night, you’ll even find live music.
