Anglothai X Soul Food Mahanakorn

After training at Bangkok’s Nahm, Thai-British chef John Chantarasak was part of the team who made London’s Thai food scene laidback and funky at Som Saa, described by Time Out as the “fourth best restaurant in London” in 2016. This Feb 7, John returns to Bangkok with his solo venture AngloThai to cook alongside US chef-food writer Jarrett Wrisley at Soul Food Mahanakorn. Make reservations for a B1,500-a-head sharing menu promising bold flavors—raw beef laab, fish sauce caramel—and British touches. Wine Garage will do an optional natural wine pairing for B1,000.

Eats Payao Pop-Up at Smalls

This Jan 24, Smalls' pop-up series welcomes Sathorn's northern Thai specialist, Eats Payao, to serve their star dishes like khaosoi and homemade sai oua, alongside their new line of Singaporean dishes like Hainanese chicken rice and laksa. Bookings available through here.

Shinsen Fish Market’s Tuna Festival

Acrss three Saturdays (Jan 26, Feb 9 and 23), Shinsen Fish Market is hosting a range of festivities centering on the finest ocean delicacies. Among the attractions are a tuna cutting show, in which the executive chef will show off his knife skills finely slicing hon-maguro or bluefin tuna. You’ll be able to taste the tuna in eight new dishes specially created for the occasion.

Ter'ra Popup Series

Former Freebird head chef Pongcharn “Top” Russell and former Suhring chef de partie Michelle Goh are teaming up as Ter'ra for six month's worth of pop-up dinners at the Sub-Zero and Wolf kitchen equipment showroom in Thonglor. Prices range from B2,850-3,250 depending on the ingredients that Top and Michelle dig up. These may take the form of a Ferrero Rocher-inspired snack made with 70% dark chocolate filled with duck pate and mulberry jam; or a delicate red cabbage risotto made with a variety of grains. On Feb 14, chocolate-lovers can take part in Kad Kokoa's single-origin chocolate tasting workshop geared at engaging with all five senses. Hazel Lee, creator of "Taste with Colour: Chocolate Tasting Flavour Map," will encourage you to paint the flavors you taste.
