Italian chef Umberto Bombana, of Hong Kong’s three-Michelin-starred 8½ Otto e Mezzo Bombana, takes over the kitchen at The Sukhothai’s old-school La Scala restaurant on May 23-24. Hailed as the “king of white truffles,” chef Bombana’s Italian restaurant is the only one outside of Italy to hold three Michelin stars and was also voted No.13 in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2018. The price of B14,600 net also includes a welcome cocktail, wine pairing and San Pellegrino water. Dinners are sold out, but very limited seats available for lunch. Reservations at [email protected].

Sang Hoon Degeimbre, the Korean-born sommelier-turned-chef behind the two-Michelin-starred L'Air du Temps in Brussels, will bring his intriguing marriage of Belgian and Korean cuisines to The Reflexions on Jun 2-4. French chef Jean-Christian Jury wrote the book on vegan cuisine—literally. His Phaidon published tome, Vegan: The Cookbook, has become an authority on meat-and-dairy-free cooking that tastes great. This Jun 6, Jury will be in Bangkok at Avani hotel’s Attitude rooftop restaurant, where he’ll prepare a seven-course plant-based dinner with wine pairing (B2,900) that he swears has the flavors and textures to satisfy vegans and carnivores alike. Beyond the salads, Jury will prepare cashew nut-cream-stuffed ravioli, zucchini spaghetti, vegan camembert and raspberry-chocolate cheesecake, to name just some of the courses.
