The leafy back-sois of Sala Daeng and Suan Phlu are right now home to some of our favorite spots for brunch in the city.

Coffeelism Stand

You’re sure to spot the long line of office workers queueing up before you lay eyes on this hip little coffee stand. Using specialty coffee blends approved by Intercof experts and forgoing the usual onslaught of sugar, their iced matcha lattes, black mint cocoa and authentic drip coffee draw crowds throughout the day—and with such reasonable pricing, it’s easy to see why. Take a seat at the bar or get it to go, either way, this is a must try if you’re in the area.

Sathorn Soi 8, 095-568-2690. Open Mon-Fri 8am-3pm; Sat 9am-3pm. BTS Chong Nonsi.

Eureka

This cafe takes a whole lot of artistic license when it comes to coffee, developing adventurous Thai twists on their signature cold nitro brew, such as their salted egg latte and durian iced tea. With six nitro taps lining the bar, it looks as much like a pub as a cafe, completed by exposed brick and white-washed walls. To eat, you can head up to the second floor for casual Thaifusion food or the third for private dining.

14/6 Sathorn Soi 2, Sathorn Rd.,092-449-9895. Open daily 8am-8pm. BTS Saphan Taksin.
Other branch: Chong Nonsi

Everyday by Karmakamet

Inside this store’s quaint, wood paneled facade, you’ll find the most charming branch of Bangkok’s top aromatic products brand. Going beyond home and body fragrances, this space doubles as a coffee shop where cheesecakes, iced macha frappe and cold lattes are the orders of the day. The shop also sells tableware, pillows, napkins, bags and T-shirts from cool brands like Container and The Sleeveless Garden.

G 1/F, Yada Building, Silom Rd., 02-237-1148. Open daily 10am-10pm. BTS Chong Nonsi.

Holey Kitchen

Just like the first branch, Holey’s second Bangkok bakery offers up fresh bread daily (including their phenomenal sourdough) as well as a counter bursting with mouth-watering pastries, muffins,
Berliners and paninis. Chilled out cafe vibes, ideal people-watching positioning and great coffee are all thrown in to make this the perfect spot to while away a lazy Sathorn afternoon.

39/17 Soi Suanphlu, Suanphlu Rd., 02-286-1549. Open Tue-Fri 7am-6pm; Sat-Sun 7am-7pm. BTS Chong Nonsi.

Luka

This light and airy neighborhood cafe sits beside Sathorn’s branch of Casa Pagoda, serving up proper coffee and teas alongside downto-earth comfort food. The decor mixes concrete walls with a copper counter and plenty of warm wood, while brunch-worthy fare like breakfast burritos, French toast and “sloppy meatball” sandwiches are all made using local and sustainable ingredients.

64/3 Pan Rd., 02-637-8558. Open daily 9am-6pm. BTS Surasak.
Other branch: Thonglor

Not Just Another Cup

With windows that let in plenty of light and a small outdoor terrace, this bright and airy two-story cafe has a chilled-out vibe. Their wide-ranging menu offers everything from classic comfort food, like pasta, French toast and egg dishes, to health-conscious smoothies, muesli and salad bowls. Besides coffee, cold-pressed juice is also available, making it a great spot to while away the weekend.

75/1 Sathorn Soi 10, 02-635-3464. Open daily 7am-7pm. BTS Chong Nonsi.

Roastology

The experienced roasters here have been supplying restaurants across the city for six years, only opening their own cafe last year. Sourcing beans both locally and internationally, they not only produce a great cup of coffee—their intense dark chocolate cocoa and purple sweet potato latte are also musttries, along with their Montreal-style bagels. Enjoy your meal amid gray marble countertops, white honeycomb tiling and industrial metal seating.

G/F, YJA Building, Sala Daeng Soi 1, 062-381-8333. Open Mon-Fri 7:30am-5pm; Sat-Sun noon-5pm. BTS Sala Daeng.

Rocket

With its white marble counter, chrome coffee machines, light woods and hints of blue, this cafe brims with Scandinavian style. Serving up Instagram-worthy drinks, like their Jaffa Cold Brew with dark chocolate and orange, and a simple menu boasting one of the best eggs Benedicts in Bangkok, this is a great place to park up for the morning—or even an afternoon, if you move on to the wine and cocktail list.

149 Sathorn Soi 12, 02-635-0404, 094-042-4060. Open daily 7am-8pm. BTS Chong Nonsi.

Roots

Following the success of their Thonglor branch, Roots has opened another joint right beside BTS Surasak. Come for a fill of fruity cold brews and coffee shakes, with beans sourced from the north of Thailand—you can even write on a postcard with a message for their farmers. The interiors come in signature industrial style, with wood and concrete offset by warm lighting. Once you’re done, head to sister-restaurant Ocken next door for top-notch casual fine dining.

1/F, Bhiraj Tower, 33,31 Sathorn Rd., 082-091-6175. Open daily 8am-7:30pm. BTS Surasak.
